Judge Hannah Dugan, who has served on the Milwaukee County bench for nearly a decade, was taken into custody on an obstruction charge after reportedly interfering with the arrest of Eduardo Flores Ruiz last week.

“We believe Judge Dugan deliberately misled federal agents away from the individual, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing him — an undocumented immigrant — to escape arrest,” Patel stated in a post on X.

“Fortunately, our agents pursued him on foot, and he has since been apprehended, but the Judge’s obstruction posed increased risks to public safety.”

However, Patel later removed the post regarding Dugan’s arrest from X, for undisclosed reasons.

This incident follows Flores-Ruiz’s appearance before Dugan on April 18th for a pre-trial hearing regarding three misdemeanor battery charges.

ICE agents arrived outside the courtroom with a federal warrant for the arrest of Flores Ruiz, but were instructed by court personnel to wait until the session concluded before taking him into custody, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing law enforcement sources.

However, prior to the agents’ entry into the courtroom, Dugan allegedly directed Flores Ruiz and his attorney through a side exit and private hallway to avoid detection.

Dugan has not provided any comments following the revelation that federal authorities are investigating her alleged conduct.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old undocumented migrant is currently being detained by ICE at the Dodge Detention Facility in Juneau, located approximately 50 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
