A recent study indicates that liberal women are more prone to feeling lonely and dissatisfied with their lives.

The 2024 American Family Survey found that 37% of women identifying as conservative, aged 18-40, express satisfaction with their lives, in stark contrast to only 12% of liberal-identifying women in the same age group.
Furthermore, the findings reveal that liberal women are nearly three times more likely to report feelings of loneliness several times a week compared to their conservative counterparts.
This nationwide poll, conducted with 3,000 Americans in 2024, also showed that 40% of liberal women surveyed identified as single, while 31% reported being married. In comparison, 51% of conservative women stated they were married, with 33% identifying as single.
“Research indicates that conservative women are generally more inclined to perceive themselves as agents of their own fate, rather than as victims of larger societal forces,” said Brad Wilcox, a sociology professor at the University of Virginia.
He added that conservative women are “less likely to dwell on public concerns” and “more inclined to view themselves as captains of their destinies.”
Wilcox pointed out that conservative women often attach significant value to traditional family values and religion, aspects he believes contribute positively to their overall happiness.
“This ideological difference doesn’t merely stem from a negative mindset; it appears to arise from the fact that young liberal women are less integrated into foundational American institutions—specifically marriage and religion—which provide essential meaning, direction, and community to their lives,” he noted. “The lower rates of marriage and religious participation among liberal women may contribute to their heightened feelings of loneliness, negatively impacting their happiness.”
“Efforts to bridge this ideological gap in emotional well-being among young women will likely require a shift in mindset along with a revitalization of young liberal women’s ties to core American institutions—family and faith.”
