Wyclef Jean expresses enthusiasm for bipartisan collaboration on Haiti during Newsmax interview

Wyclef Jean, a Haitian-American rapper and musician, expressed his willingness to collaborate with both sides of the House to assist Haiti in progressing amidst the turmoil caused by gang violence, as reported by Newsmax on Monday.

“We are facing a critical situation,” Jean remarked during an interview on “Wake Up America.” “I want to acknowledge that over 1,000 Americans are still present in Haiti. I have been actively working with the Jack Brewer Foundation to evacuate Americans, Haitian-Americans, and other individuals. We have successfully completed five missions, evacuating 31 individuals.”

Highlighting the imminent threat of starvation for over four million people in the coming weeks, Jean emphasized the urgency of addressing the dual challenge of evacuation and preparing for essential aid. Stabilizing the country immediately is paramount.

Emphasizing the significant role played by the Haitian diaspora in Haiti, Jean noted that a significant portion of the country’s budget is contributed by the diaspora, amounting to billions of dollars. He underscored the potential for change in Haiti’s destiny, contingent upon establishing security.

Appearing on Newsmax, Jean emphasized the importance of bipartisan collaboration, citing his family’s mixed political affiliations. He advocated for increased Republican engagement in Haiti to accelerate progress and address the ongoing crisis effectively.

Leaders in the Caribbean are working towards forming a transitional presidential council to appoint an interim prime minister and council of ministers. Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry has indicated his intention to resign once the council is constituted.

When asked about the prospect of running for president of Haiti, Jean underscored his focus on entrepreneurship and business, aiming to drive economic growth and create opportunities in the country.
