Following a heated exchange with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a message of conciliation on Friday.

It remains uncertain whether this statement was pre-scheduled prior to the meeting.

Many social media managers utilize scheduling tools to manage future posts, allowing them to publish content at chosen times and dates.

“Thank you America, thank you for your support, and for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people,” Zelensky tweeted. “Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working towards that.”

However, many Americans reacted skeptically to Zelensky’s message, especially since the Ukrainian president entered the Oval Office and dismissed the possibility of a peace deal with Russia, all while asserting that Ukraine sought “just and lasting peace.”

The timing of the X post, whether it was pre-planned or coincidental with Zelensky’s confrontation with Trump and Vance, is still ambiguous.

On Friday, after the exchange, Zelensky was swiftly escorted out of the White House on Trump’s orders, with his statement appearing online on X roughly forty minutes later.

Zelensky reportedly canceled his appearance at the Hudson Institute think-tank following his meeting with Trump but did go on Fox News for an interview with Bret Baier, the network’s leading political anchor.

According to the Financial Times, the Ukrainian president also contacted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and French President Emmanuel Macron, who met with Trump earlier in the week, The Post stated.

In the meantime, some European leaders quickly rallied in support of Zelensky, similar to how Trump’s supporters defended the former president as he took a stand against Ukraine’s “ungrateful” and “unjustified” demands.

Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas), known for his unwavering support of Ukraine against Russia, having voted in favor of the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022, unexpectedly criticized Zelensky’s comments and conduct during the Oval Office meeting.

Among the European leaders supporting Zelensky, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, who acknowledged his past affiliation with the Communist Party in 1988, stood out.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs also voiced his support.
