Zelenskyy Urges Mike Johnson to Provide Aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reached out to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., seeking aid for Ukraine’s war against Russia. He emphasized the importance of keeping the issue of aid as a unifying factor in Congress.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Speaker Johnson, both parties, the American people, and President Biden for their critical support since the start of Russia’s invasion. He provided an update on the battlefield situation, highlighting the increased air attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities and communities. He stressed the urgent need for US aid to Ukraine and discussed ways to cut off Russia’s sources of funding for the war.

Speaker Johnson has been deliberating on a funding package to support Ukraine by providing weapons and ammunition. He plans to seek approval for significant wartime funding for Ukraine and Israel when the House reconvenes in April, acknowledging the challenges ahead.

Despite the escalating conflict in Ukraine and the threats posed by Russia, Johnson is committed to addressing the aid package promptly. The situation in Ukraine is becoming more dire, with soldiers facing ammunition shortages and the potential for a larger conflict if Russia gains the upper hand.
