Adams’ migrant madness: Letters to the Editor
The Issue: Mayor Adams’ conversion of public ballfields on Randall’s Island to migrant housing.
In McCarren Park, Randall’s Island, Sunset Park and a growing number of places across the city, the rights of children and their families to use public facilities are being taken away to house migrants and attend to their immediate needs (“Don’t Put Migrants Over Kids, Mayor,” Natalya Murakhver, PostOpinion, Aug. 9).
Parents are outraged, children are disappointed, and residents are shocked that lifelong New Yorkers “come dead last in New York’s pecking order,” as Murakhver put it.
It is time for those impacted by Mayor Adams’ policies — and those who likely will be impacted by them in the coming months — to organize marches and protests and get out in the streets to give our leaders a whiff of democracy in action.
In the past, a whiff has often been enough to bring them to their senses. It’s worth trying to see if it will again.

Instead of placing migrants in two Brooklyn parks and on Randall’s Island, Adams should send all “asylum seekers” to President Biden’s home state of Delaware.
Perhaps that will drive home the point that our city is suffering from a problem Biden caused and refuses to fix.
Biden’s indifference recalls a 1975 newspaper headline: “Ford to city: Drop dead.” Then-President Gerald Ford refused to help New York deal with a financial crisis. Now Biden takes the same approach to our migrant crisis.
New York City voters can tell him to “drop dead” by voting for his opponent in 2024’s general election.
Adams must declare an end to the city’s “sanctuary” status, which invites an invasion of illegal immigrants costing taxpayers nearly $8 million a day. The city can no longer be a sanctuary from reality.

The problem of illegal migrants, which is destroying parks, schools, neighborhoods and cities all across the country, is caused by Washington.
Our leaders can’t admit they are very wrong and are totally losing control of the open border.
They just close their eyes and pretend there is no problem as they convince their non-thinking supporters this is the compassionate thing to do. That’s all while showing no compassion for the US citizens who live here, as our schools, hospitals, housing and national security are being compromised.

Adams is asking New Yorkers: “What are you doing to help people who are in need right now?” regarding the migrant crisis.
Here’s my answer: I stood ready to advise you against welcoming unlimited numbers of “asylum seekers” (which we know most are not) without using your clout to demand that President Biden, Gov. Hochul, Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, etc., pony up dollars to help defray costs and provide deeper resources so New York City doesn’t go bankrupt. But you didn’t listen to me or anyone else — you never do.
Now tell me, Mr. Mayor, what you have actually done to help anyone?

When Mayor Adams tells New Yorkers that the city’s migrant crisis, which he is largely responsible for causing, is coming soon “to a neighborhood near you,” we can be sure he is not talking about neighborhoods like Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Murray Hill, Sutton Place, Riverdale or Forest Hills Estates.
We all know what he means. It will be working-class areas with little political clout (like Sunset Park) that will bear the brunt of dealing with this manufactured crisis.

When will this madness end? Illegal migrants entering our city in endless numbers cannot continue.
Now our children are paying the price for this mindless plan as well, leaving them with fewer places to play and more time spent on the streets.
It also means more of a burden on schools, hospitals and social services that we are paying for.
There is no rational justification for continuing to accept these migrants. Shut it down now.
