Although I don’t support Donald Trump, Kamala Harris does not appeal to me.
Whether you choose to vote or not is up to you. Just refrain from asserting that Vice President Kamala Harris will be the savior of democracy.
It would have been preferable if the Republicans had nominated a more coherent, principled, and competent candidate for the presidency. However, it’s important to acknowledge that the Democrats did not exactly nominate a shining example of such qualities.
Spending time deciphering Harris’ rhetoric reveals a web of clichés and incoherence, leading one to question the state of our political discourse.
While there may be valid reasons for a movement conservative to be hesitant about supporting former President Donald Trump, there are also rational arguments in his favor. One primary reason being the current state of the Democratic Party.
Individuals like Liz Cheney argue that Trump poses an existential threat to the Constitution, urging a bipartisan approach to put country over personal politics. However, many of the dire warnings about Trump from the left are based on fiction rather than facts.
Reflecting on recent history, it becomes evident that the left has been more willing to exploit state power to target its adversaries. Examples include targeting pro-life activists, spying on churches, and chilling speech of dissenting voices.
Even if Trump were to act impulsively, the long-term damage would likely be contained within his presidency. On the contrary, Democrats have embraced policies that pose lasting threats to the constitutional order.
It’s hard to believe that someone who advocates for stringent oversight and regulation of speech will champion constitutional values.
Harris’ alignment with Governor Tim Walz’s views on free speech raises concerns about the Democrats’ commitment to upholding the First Amendment.
Her past statements, such as the promise to sign executive orders on gun control, and the push for dismantling Senate norms, further illustrate her authoritarian tendencies.
The Democrats’ agenda, which includes undermining state laws, expanding abortion rights, and threatening the Supreme Court, raises serious questions about their commitment to democracy.
As uncertain as the future of Trumpism may be, Harris does not present a compelling alternative.
