Amsterdam soccer riot reveals underlying antisemitism masked as ‘antizionism’

During the night, a large number of Jews raced through the streets of Amsterdam to escape attacks by organized groups of violent antisemitic individuals.

This incident occurred in the Netherlands on Thursday night, when supporters of Israeli soccer team Maccabi Tel Aviv were leaving a match against AFC Ajax.

Aggressive gangs pursued the Israeli fans from the stadium, physically assaulting them and shouting the infamous slogan of Jew-haters worldwide: “Free Palestine.”

These brutal attackers targeted individual fans, subjecting them to violence.

They even ran over one fan with a car.

At least 10 Israeli fans sustained injuries, with five requiring hospitalization.

The facade of “antizionism” has finally been stripped away, revealing the underlying hatred.

The victims were ordinary soccer fans, not connected to Israeli policy in any way. They were targeted simply because they were Jews.

The escalation of these events should come as no surprise.

The heinous Hamas attacks on October 7 led to global demonstrations — in support of the attackers.

Reports emerged of “pro-Palestine” protesters in Sydney shouting “Gas the Jews.”

This trend continued and spread to US campuses, where groups of antisemitic individuals harassed Jewish students and organized hateful gatherings in New York.

All this happened with the tacit approval of the United Nations, European officials, and leftists in the US academia and media.

During one of her final campaign speeches, Kamala Harris shamefully supported the false claim that Israel is committing genocide.

We are now witnessing scenes reminiscent of Nazi Germany, causing alarm to any rational observer.

What comes next is already known.

The mayor of Amsterdam may continue to make excuses.

Politicians in DC, Brussels, and elsewhere will issue condemnations as usual, but without any meaningful, lasting action.

Perhaps Chuck Schumer will finally allow a Senate vote on the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which passed the House on May 1 with strong bipartisan support, but has been held back by Schumer due to Democratic divisions.

The entrenched European establishment is unlikely to take concrete action.

The perpetrators of these acts of hate will retreat into the shadows until the next opportunity arises for their violence.

What form will their next actions take? Arson attacks on Jewish-owned businesses? Lynchings?

Unless it is acknowledged worldwide that “antizionism” is simply cover for existing antisemitism, this dark night will only grow darker.
