Andrew Cuomo, the left-leaning bully, has not suddenly changed his ways

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s recent activities have sparked speculation about his political ambitions.

It appears that he may be preparing for another run, but the question is, which political party will he align with?

One of the first signs is his attempt at revising the COVID narrative.

In a recent interview, Cuomo denied that he had imposed any mandates on businesses or mask-wearing, claiming that people had done so voluntarily.

However, those who experienced New York under Cuomo’s leadership in 2020 know this to be far from the truth.

Cuomo exercised authoritarian control, closing businesses, schools, bars, gyms, and places of worship in certain areas. He even mandated masks for young children, while seldom wearing one himself.

His rules seemed arbitrary and unscientific, such as the requirement to order a “substantial” snack with a drink at a bar with an 11 p.m. curfew.

He now wants to paint a different picture, suggesting that the public complied voluntarily.

Despite initial praise for his handling of the pandemic, Cuomo’s true colors soon emerged. He clashed openly with then-Mayor Bill de Blasio, displaying belligerence and inconsistency in his leadership.

His decision to transfer COVID-positive patients to nursing homes, knowing the risk involved, likely led to unnecessary deaths. His administration also concealed the true number of nursing home fatalities, only apologizing when facing pressure from fellow Democrats.

In the wake of the pandemic, many individuals have tried to rewrite their narratives, including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and AFT boss Randi Weingarten. However, Cuomo’s efforts have been particularly noteworthy.

He has made surprising appearances on right-of-center platforms, dined with key figures from the Republican party, criticized the Biden administration, and opposed policies he once supported.

His recent claims that he never imposed lockdowns or mask mandates represent a significant shift in his rhetoric.

While some may view Cuomo as a potential ally in a sea of New York Democrats, it’s essential to remember his history of self-serving political calculations and authoritarian behavior.

Republicans should remain vigilant and not be swayed by Cuomo’s attempts to court their support for his own gain.

Cuomo’s track record speaks volumes, and it’s crucial to keep his past actions in mind when evaluating his future political ambitions.
