Biden administration opposes censure of Iran
The Biden administration is not only ignoring Iran’s nuclear ambitions but also encouraging allies to do the same.
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, European diplomats have revealed that US officials have been attempting to dissuade Britain and France from censuring Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s board meeting. This comes despite Iran’s significant increase in the stockpile of highly enriched uranium, close to the amount needed to produce three nuclear weapons. This defiance follows warnings from the IAEA to Iran to temper its nuclear program and allow more oversight.
While US officials deny protecting Iran, it aligns with President Biden’s strategy of appeasement towards Iran at any cost, even at the expense of national security.
Since taking office, Biden has neglected to enforce sanctions against Iranian oil buyers, allowing the regime to accumulate funds that can then be funneled into terrorist activities and uranium acquisition.
Despite over 160 attacks on US forces by Iranian proxies, Biden only responded after an attack that resulted in casualties. He later approved a waiver allowing Iran continued access to funds released from previously frozen bank accounts.
Biden also downplayed Iran’s attacks on Israel, urging the country not to retaliate despite over 300 drone and missile strikes.
As Iran advances its nuclear program, Biden’s administration continues to show reluctance in confronting Tehran, which only emboldens the ayatollahs.
Instead of using US power to pressure Iran, Biden hopes to appease them into compliance, a strategy that has only led to increased aggression and advancements in Iran’s nuclear program.
Biden’s personal interest in stabilizing oil prices before the election is evident, but France and Britain are in the right to enforce consequences on Iran, if only the president would not intervene.
