Biden’s attempts to paint Trump as abnormal backfire as his own recent actions prove the opposite

Since Donald Trump launched his 2016 campaign, Democrats have argued that he is too unconventional in too many ways to be president.

Their Hollywood wing portrayed him as Crazy Orange Man and their Washington wing fueled fears about threats to democracy and the shattering of political norms.

These two factions converged on Tuesday in the peculiar appearance of Robert De Niro.

Once a renowned actor, De Niro has transformed into an unhinged Trump critic and his criticism of the former president as a “clown” and “tyrant” were simply ineffective.

However, it’s notable that De Niro didn’t show up on his own outside the lower Manhattan courthouse where Trump is being tried.

He was dispatched by Joe Biden’s campaign as their representative.

The juvenile speech he delivered was likely composed by or approved by the White House.

And they dare to say Trump is unconventional?

When a faded actor is your top advocate, it’s a sign of desperation in the White House.

Election ‘anxiety’

In reality, there is nothing ordinary about Joe Biden or his presidency, despite attempts to portray them as such by him and the media.

Finally, the weight of evidence is dismantling the fabricated facade of character and competence.

The De Niro incident occurred on the same day that Politico reported a “freakout” among party leaders who fear Biden is headed towards defeat.

According to the report, “Anxiety has turned into palpable trepidation, as per more than a dozen party leaders and operatives.”

There has been a growing disconnect between what Democrats say publicly and what they express privately to friends as worries about Biden’s chances intensify.

This reaction is understandable, but why did it take them so long?

The Biden presidency has been a debacle for over three years and now it seems the architects behind it are starting to realize it.

Their main strategy was to prosecute Trump to keep him away from the campaign trail and possibly put him behind bars.

Initially, it seemed successful as he is tied up in a Manhattan courtroom most days and facing continuous allegations and negative media coverage.

However, the legal crusade has backfired politically.

It has actually increased Trump’s popularity as the four criminal cases are so flawed that it’s clear they exist out of partisanship.

This is not just abnormal – it’s unprecedented in American history.

Yet, bad ideas are hard to extinguish, and the narrative that Biden is normal and Trump is abnormal persists.

The New York Times, a mouthpiece of Democratic thinking, adopted this narrative in comparing the candidates’ Memorial Day statements.

While both addressed the cost of freedom, Trump’s additional statement criticizing the judges overseeing his cases was used as evidence of “stark differences” between the men, implying that he doesn’t adhere to the behavioral norms expected from leaders on a somber national holiday.

But what the Times conveniently omits are the “norms” of behavior that the Biden administration violates constantly.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Biden White House is pressuring European allies to refrain from rebuking Iran for its nuclear advancements.

Some allies suspect that the administration is avoiding any confrontation with Iran before the US election.

Is delaying action against Iran just to maintain the illusion of peace until the election a normal behavior?

This sounds more like election manipulation than anything Trump has done.

Condolences to Iran

The same question arises when the United States extended “official condolences” to Iran after its president, Ebrahim Raisi, died in a helicopter crash.

Mourning a man known as the “Butcher of Tehran” is far from normal.

This is not the first instance of Biden appeasing Iran.

He refuses to hold the tyrannical rulers of Iran accountable for the Hamas incursion into Israel, turning a blind eye to their actions to maintain a false image of Iran as a stabilizing force.

He also ignores Iran’s involvement in the daily rocket attacks by Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen against Israel.

Both groups are funded and controlled by Tehran, yet Biden chooses to overlook this.

Similarly, his support for Israel wavered when Muslim-American voters in swing states threatened to boycott his re-election campaign.

Almost immediately, Biden shifted his stance on Israel.

Is it normal for a president to betray an ally in the midst of a war to appease voters, some of whom are openly antisemitic?

There are numerous other norms that the president violates in relation to his son.

While Hunter Biden was under investigation by the Department of Justice, which answers directly to the president, Biden repeatedly declared that “my son did nothing wrong” publicly.

He even invited his son to White House events where the Attorney General was present.

This happened again over the Memorial Day weekend, despite White House aides expressing concerns about the “appearance.”

During the same weekend, it was reported that Biden visited the home of Hallie Biden, the widow of his son, Beau, and later Hunter’s lover.

She is set to testify in Hunter’s trial for an illegal gun purchase, which starts next week, making the visit anything but normal.

If Trump had done this, the Times would accuse him of witness tampering.

But when Biden does it, there is silence.

It’s clear that whatever Biden does is considered normal, and whatever Trump does is considered abnormal.

Everything else is mere detail.

Turning the page

Last August, I published a letter from reader Marvin Levine where he criticized Donald Trump and urged against his return to the White House.

Levine now writes again, admitting his earlier stance and stating that the past year has been so disastrous under Biden’s leadership that the country cannot endure another four years of it. He mentions issues like the border, Trump persecutions, the economy, and Biden’s declining mental and physical health as reasons for his change of heart.

Wrong, Harvard!

Harvard, once synonymous with intelligence, made a mistake by pledging to stay silent on matters not directly related to its core function.

The problem isn’t that former President Claudine Gay spoke up about campus antisemitism.

It’s her justification, or lack thereof, that got her into trouble and caused turmoil at Harvard.

By suggesting that the context determines the acceptability of actions, Gay essentially condoned the harassment of Jewish students.

Distinguishing between right and wrong is not a choice but a fundamental part of higher education.

Harvard used to understand this concept.
