Biden’s Final Plea Deal for KSM and Other 9/11 Terrorists: A Disregard for America
The Biden administration’s damaging legacy continues to inflict severe consequences on Americans and the national interest; the most recent scandal involves the increased possibility that the masterminds behind 9/11 may evade the death penalty.
On Monday, an appeals court dismissed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s attempt to block plea agreements made with Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his accomplices Walid bin Attash and Mustafa al-Hawsawi.
These agreements were approved in July by senior defense official and retired Brig.-Gen. Susan Escallier, who was appointed by Austin to the Office of Military Commissions.
Escallier shocked the nation and the families of 9/11 victims when she authorized these dreadful agreements; Austin—after openly admitting he was “surprised” by the decision—attempted to overturn them, resulting in a legal battle that currently appears to favor injustice over justice and America’s adversaries.
This entire situation reflects cowardice, subservience to the left, and above all, incompetence at the highest echelons.
The notion that Austin would try to downplay a disaster like this with vague comments about his surprise while attempting to mitigate it is laughable.
He’s secretary of defense, not the VP of sales at a mid-tier tractor manufacturing firm.
Yes, chief Biden spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan have asserted that the White House had no prior knowledge of this unacceptable arrangement.
But at this stage, how credible is their word?
Even if they are being truthful, there is no reason to trust them.
Moreover, considering KSM’s ongoing detention at Guantanamo Bay was a significant hurdle to Biden’s aspirations of closing the prison, it’s entirely plausible that Biden (or whoever is running the country) orchestrated this heinous arrangement.
After all, sacrificing everything for momentary political advantage is the Biden administration’s modus operandi: Take a look at the Afghanistan withdrawal, the border crisis, and numerous other issues.
Even without direct involvement from the Oval Office, this debacle still bears the marks of the administration, characterized by its signature incompetence.
At best, this reflects Biden & Co. mishandling what is arguably the most significant military prosecution in American history.
Even as he departs, Joe cannot escape tarnishing the office he occupied and harming the country he claims to cherish.
