Bloody stabbing spree in NYC: A result of left-wing policies and city dysfunction

There are clear signs of individuals with severe mental health issues walking the streets of New York, often seen talking to themselves or to the public. It’s a common sight every day.

Unfortunately, on Monday, one of these individuals snapped, resulting in a stabbing spree that claimed the lives of three innocent victims

How many more tragedies like this need to occur before action is taken?

Ramon Rivera, known for his obvious mental health issues and with a criminal history spanning multiple states and at least eight arrests in New York, was released early from Rikers this year after serving time for numerous burglaries and assaults.

This was the first major failure in a series of events that led to the tragic outcome.

On the very day of his release, Rivera stole a $1,500 bowl from a luxury home goods store in Manhattan. Although prosecutors sought bail, a judge released him on non-monetary conditions.

This was the second failure, and a critical one at that.

It’s baffling how someone with Rivera’s criminal record and mental health issues was allowed to be set free even after the glaring mistakes that led to his release from Rikers and subsequent arrest.

Rivera has a history of arrests for domestic violence and other crimes dating back to 2003 in Florida, assault in Cleveland in 2017, and burglary in New Jersey in January. In May, he spent time in the Bellevue psych ward where he assaulted a correction officer.

How many warning signs can one person exhibit before action is taken?

The city government seems unable or unwilling to address the dangers posed by individuals with mental illness roaming the streets.

Combined with the ongoing issues at Rikers and the lenient bail policies implemented by progressives in 2019, the tragic outcomes continue to pile up.

This time, three lives were lost, and Rivera’s violent actions could have continued if not for the intervention of civilians after his third attack.

It’s evident to any rational person that Rivera should have been in a mental institution.

Assuming the first critical mistake, as soon as he was arrested again, especially on the same day, he should have been sent back to prison or an institution.

New York urgently needs comprehensive changes to restore public safety, given the leniency of the left-leaning individuals and the Democratic uniparty enabling them in both Gotham and Albany.

Without these changes, the cycle of violence will inevitably persist.
