By Removing Alvin Bragg, Hochul Can Strengthen Safety and Improve Relations with Trump
If Governor Kathy Hochul truly intends to strike a questionable bargain with President Trump regarding her “congestion” tolls, she might need to propose more than merely not postponing the election for the North Country House seat.
Perhaps she could consider parting ways with Alvin Bragg?
In other words, the governor should finally dismiss the Manhattan district attorney for cause — specifically, to safeguard public safety.
Enhancing safety is vital for the revival of New York City, a matter that is significant to the president.
However, Bragg has consistently demonstrated that he aligns with criminals rather than victims.
Consider his unwavering commitment to under-prosecuting nearly everyone except those named Daniel Penny or Donald Trump.
He’s even lenient towards antisemitism.
Indeed, Hochul should have dismissed Bragg years ago.
Yet, we anticipate that a governor who asserts that Republicans bear responsibility for the confusion surrounding a special election to fill Elise Stefanik’s seat will find a justification for acting now.
This could be a sweetener for the president for obvious reasons.
Another instance of Bragg’s abuse of power was his obsessive pursuit of Trump in the “hush money” case, where the DA concocted new “tough” legal theories to ensnare the Great Orange Defendant.
That misconduct, for what it’s worth, provides yet another solid reason to remove Bragg.
Together, he and state Attorney General Tish James have instilled fear in legitimate New York businesses that they could face legal harassment simply for opposing the progressive elite.
That’s yet another burden on the local economy that New York can ill afford.
Eliminating this issue might help alleviate the dismal economic repercussions of Hochul’s $9-on-its-way-to-$15 toll for accessing Manhattan’s business areas.
In fact, the governor could dismiss Bragg right now, ahead of any negotiation with Trump: A gesture of goodwill often sets a positive tone for discussions.
