City Taxpayers Bear the Burden of Joe Biden’s 33,000 Secret Migrant Flights to New York

Mayor Eric Adams continues to point the finger at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for the city’s migrant crisis, which has drained millions in taxpayer funds.

In the latest exchange, Adams challenged Abbott to spend a night in a NYC migrant shelter, but Abbott fired back, accusing Adams’s sanctuary city policies of contributing to the border crisis.

About 37,000 of New York’s estimated 150,000 migrants, or 25%, were transported from Texas.

But there’s another figure, almost equivalent to that, that Adams should hold another politician accountable for: Joe Biden.

A recent report from myself and the Center for Immigration Studies reveals that the Department of Homeland Security has secretly approved the flights of around 33,000 illegal immigrants directly to the New York region from foreign airports, amounting to 22% of the city’s migrant influx.

One of the immigrants flown in by Biden was a Haitian man named Pierre Lucard Emile, who was accused of raping a developmentally disabled teenage girl. The administration reportedly allowed him to fly directly from Haiti into John F. Kennedy International Airport under the immigrant flights program.

Biden is significantly more accountable than Abbott for New York’s issues because of his failure to enforce border laws, resulting in a flood of illegal immigrants in Texas and other southern states.

Adams, however, lets Biden off the hook for the flights, which Biden could easily stop with a phone call, instead choosing to blame the Republican Abbott for the city’s troubles.

According to DHS reports, more than 386,000 immigrants have been flown directly into the U.S. from foreign airports since the unauthorized launch of the program in January 2023.

The flights were initially for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans but have since expanded to include five other nationalities under the “CHNV Program” or the “Advanced Travel Authorization Program”. U.S.-based sponsors apply for air travel permissions on behalf of aspiring illegal immigrants who provide information through an online program and mobile app called CBP-One.

Upon approval by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the aspiring illegal immigrants arrange their own flights to a government-approved U.S. international airport, where they are processed into the country by U.S. customs inspectors.

Another program has brought in an additional 420,000 immigrants from 100 countries through eight land ports in the past year.

Both programs are based on the use of an authority in the Immigration and Nationality Act that allows the president to grant temporary “humanitarian parole” on a “case-by-case” basis in emergency situations.

This administration has granted this parole to well over 800,000 foreigners, using it to reduce the optics of mass illegal border crossings.
