Commentary on the Economic Impact of Harris-Biden’s Migrant Influx, Kam’s Policies Straining Economy, Working Class Turns Away from Democrats

Border beat: The Cost of Harris-Biden’s Migrant Flood

“What the citizens of Springfield and Aurora are experiencing” are “the real costs of an historically unprecedented flood of migrants into the country,” fumes the Washington Examiner’s editorial board. “From day one, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have” flagrantly abused “statutes to create dubious new pathways for otherwise illegal immigrants to enter and stay in the country.” In “Springfield, a town of 60,000,” estimates “suggest 12,000 to 20,000 Haitians have recently been deposited without the existing community’s approval or consent.” Many have “been granted Temporary Protected Status by Biden, giving them a legal status, but that does not mean they arrived legally.” If Harris “does win this fall, voters should expect much more pain like what is occurring in Springfield and Aurora [Colo.] and in many more communities.”

Eye on energy: Kam’s Plans Slam Economy

“Almost nothing could be more important to the future of American workers than access to affordable energy,” frets Liz Peek at The Hill, yet the dictates of White House climate zealots “will lead to soaring electricity costs” and cripple the “country’s ability to compete in the industries of the future,” i.e., “artificial intelligence.” The renewable-energy drive has already brought “rising electricity costs,” and the needs of AI data centers soon will be “roughly equivalent to the electricity consumption of Japan.” “Cheap electricity is essential” to the nation’s industrial future. “Abundant cheap fossil fuels” have kept prices low and given the US a “competitive edge.” “Kamala Harris could eliminate that advantage, by pursuing high-cost renewable energy and making it even harder to produce U.S. oil and gas.”

Elex watch: Working Class Flees Dems

The Teamsters’ decision not to endorse a presidential candidate, for the first time since 1996, “stung” the Kamala Harris campaign, reports Michael Baharaeen at UnHerd. “It’s the latest sign of the Democratic Party’s struggles to retain” working-class voters. Per union data, members favored Donald Trump over Harris by more than 20 points. “Democrats have tried to offset these losses by making gains among college-educated voters. But their continued decline with the working class poses serious risks.” The Dems’ chief problem: Union members and the whole working class are “more culturally conservative than the party’s ascendant college base.” If Democrats don’t “address that gap, it may raise a threat to their electoral viability.”

Tech desk: Biden Goes After Nvidia

“The Biden administration now plans to punish” chipmaker Nvidia for its “stunning success,” thunders Adam D. Thierer at City Journal — “the greatest gift China could hope for as it looks to catch up in the global AI race.” This month “the Department of Justice sent a subpoena to Nvidia, deepening the agency’s antitrust-related probe.” Why? Nvidia has “has helped fuel a $335 billion private-sector-led explosion of AI investment.” “Could it be that, by shunning political games” like those its competitors play, “Nvidia has set itself up for a fall?” Meanwhile, “China is working to develop its own ‘national champions’ to rival Nvidia in pursuit of the CCP’s stated goal of overtaking America and becoming the world’s AI leader by 2030.”

Conservative: Joe’s Failures Haunt Kamala

“Harris shoulders a burden: Joe Biden,” explains the Washington Free Beacon’s Matthew Continetti. Joe’s “approval remains low” at 42%. He’s “a declared one-termer whose” legacy “will be long-lasting and negative.” “No miss has been greater than Biden’s retreat from Afghanistan,” while “Wars in Ukraine and Israel have had a terrible cost. The mini-war in the Red Sea against the Houthis” has” done more than interrupt global trade.” “Millions have entered the country” on his watch. Recently, “Biden said inflation had been tamed, only to see Harris blame it on price gougers.” “The toll” of his spending and regulations “is staggering.” “Biden’s long shadow will haunt America for years.” Which is why Kamala Harris is so desperate to escape it.”
