Debate Between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris: Correspondence
The Discussion: Assessment of Former President Donald Trump’s performance in the presidential debate on Tuesday night.
Former President Donald Trump exhibited a grim and furious demeanor as he spread falsehoods and endorsed absurd conspiracy theories during the debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday night (“Beats Trump — but no bump,” Sept. 12).
One of Trump’s remarkable attempts to deceive the American people was his claim, stated with a serious expression, that everyone — Republicans, Democrats, and independents — favored overturning the Roe v. Wade ruling and transferring the matter of abortion rights to individual states.
This assertion contradicts the views of voters who have actively supported abortion rights in blue and red states when given the chance to vote on the issue.
Trump has openly spoken about selecting three Supreme Court justices who would fulfill his desire to eliminate the national right to abortion. Now, he faces the consequences of his wishes.

During the debate, neither candidate provided direct answers to the questions, failing to impress with their responses. The most notable case of evasion occurred during the opening of the debate when the VP was asked whether Americans are currently in a better position than four years ago.
Harris’ indecision was evident, yet she is being hailed as the winner by commentators. Let’s not forget that eight years ago, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also declared the “winner” of her debates.

The debate highlighted that Trump has lost his edge and is not a suitable candidate.
His avoidance of questions on various topics was rather comical.
When pressed about pressuring GOP members to block a House bill on border security, he diverted the topic to migrants consuming cats and dogs in Ohio. Regarding his involvement in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, he maintained that he had encouraged a peaceful march.
He also became visibly upset at the idea of attendees leaving his rallies due to boredom.

Trump faltered in the debate. All he needed to do was address the audience and ask a simple question: “Are you better off now than when I was president?”
With an obvious negative response, Trump could have succeeded, but he allowed Harris to outmaneuver him.

If President Biden or Harris had lauded the “late, great Hannibal Lecter,” discussed immigrants consuming cats and dogs, or made any of the baseless claims articulated by the former president during the debate, Republicans would be criticizing their mental acuity.
Where are these same GOP members when their nearly 80-year-old leader continues to exhibit an increasing detachment from reality?

Do not blame the moderators. The former president failed to challenge Harris on her vulnerable issues: the economy and the border. Trump missed his opportunity.

I gained insights from the debate. Allegedly, some blue states execute newborns, and immigrants are reportedly consuming cats and dogs on the streets of Springfield, Ohio. (None of this is factual, despite Trump’s assertions).
Following the debate, Trump seized a potential audience and entered the spin room, claiming it was his best debate ever.
Dementia is a serious matter, but Trump somehow makes it amusing.
