Democrats are realizing that they will not succumb to the pressure of transgender moralism.
Using “How dare you say that” as a political argument is not convincing.
Despite being defeated in the election, the side that believed in winning on cultural issues through intimidation by controlling the debate in their favor continues to act as if it’s a valid strategy.
The left’s tactic has been to enforce its biased vocabulary on everyone, label opponents as bigots, and use moral pressure and the threat of consequences to silence any doubts from those who are slightly left-leaning.
However, this strategy has a flaw.
When a cause is considered exotic and unpopular, and the public can participate in a political debate on the issue, the attempt to criminalize common sense is destined to fail.
This is evident in the discussion of trans issues during the election. Donald Trump’s attack ad, “she’s for they/them,” was highly effective.
How is the left responding? By sticking to the old rules.
During a heated exchange on CNN, Republican strategist Shermichael Singleton mentioned that many families feel that boys should not play girls’ sports, sparking a fiery reaction from progressive panelist Jay Michelson.
Interrupting, Michelson vehemently rejected the idea of listening to “transphobia” and argued that it’s offensive to refer to “trans girls” as “boys.”
Interestingly, anchor Abby Phillip intervened, not to support Singleton’s use of terminology, but to urge him to discuss the topic respectfully.
The left’s stance on this issue is not about agreeing to disagree but asserting that “trans girls” are girls and that there is no moral right to think or say otherwise.
This adds an air of intolerant lecturing to an already unreasonable position, making it even more unappealing.
Progressives view their current obsession as the paramount moral issue of our time, likening it to the civil rights movement.
As a result, anyone who opposes boys competing in girls’ sports or rejects the popular terminology is seen as a modern-day villain.
Under these circumstances, no compromise is acceptable, even for political reasons.
Recently, Gilberto Hinojosa, the longtime chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, faced backlash for stating the obvious about trans issues.
He tried to strike a balance by acknowledging that while you can support transgender rights, there are limits to what the majority of the population can accept.
Despite apologizing for his remarks, Hinojosa was forced to resign.
A top aide to Democratic Rep. Seth Mouton also resigned after Moulton expressed concerns about his daughters’ safety in sports.
Both Hinojosa and Moulton faced fierce criticism from left-wing groups.
While the left’s moralistic pressure may reinforce its beliefs among its followers, the rest of the country rejects these authoritarian rules.
