Democrats’ Protests for Due Process: Letters

The Topic: Democrats’ Battle Against Trump’s Deportations of Illegal Immigrants and Due Process Rights.

It’s disheartening to hear Democratic leaders lament over the rights of deported criminal Kilmar Abrego Garcia while disregarding the pain inflicted upon victims by illegal immigrants (“Deport the Easy Way,” Rich Lowry, PostOpinion, April 29).

As a retired law enforcement officer, I feel compelled to inform the far-left Democrats that they have misinterpreted “due process” to align with their agenda. The illegal immigrants who entered during the Biden administration do not have due process rights as they are not governed by our laws.

Democrats seem to focus their efforts on the rights of those unlawfully in the country — many of whom have committed violent offenses against innocent Americans. They should redirect some of their attention towards supporting those who have defended our nation rather than advocating for criminals.

Sadly, their quest for votes obstructs any rational action from this left-leaning party with misplaced priorities.

Just as we have customs agents in foreign nations, I propose the same approach with immigration courts. If a court rules in favor of an immigrant, they can reenter the U.S.; if not, they will already be in their home country.

Does the location of the hearing truly impact their legal due process?

Democrats are determined that Garcia — who faces allegations of domestic violence, gang affiliation, human trafficking, and illegal entry — should receive due process.

But what about the victims who were kidnapped, raped, or murdered by illegal immigrants? They never experienced due process.

Instead of collaborating with Trump, who is striving to make America safe and great again, Democrats have become supporters of illegals, terrorists, and murderers.

Democrats like to claim they are upholding due process, yet where was that principle when they raided Mar-a-Lago and targeted Trump and his associates?

They are despicable individuals who cannot move past their failures and will go to any lengths to undermine our president.

The Topic: MTA CEO Janno Lieber’s Task to Identify $3 Billion in Savings for a Capital Plan.

I find it perplexing: not long ago, the MTA admitted to losing millions due to fraudulent overtime, yet now it claims it cannot locate those funds (“$3B cut? Oh, rail easy,” May 1).

Since the MTA’s admission, I haven’t seen or heard about any measures taken to prevent this waste of our tax dollars.

CEO Janno Lieber may believe this issue has been forgotten, but it hasn’t. We are still waiting for an explanation that may never come.

MTA head Janno Lieber is thrilled that Gov. Hochul is funding his $65 billion capital plan, which requires the MTA to contribute $3 billion through budget cuts.

When was the last time the MTA managed to save anything? It squanders taxpayer money like a reckless spender.
