Eric Adams Campaigning as an Independent: Letters to the Editor
The Topic: Mayor Adams declaring his intention to run for reelection as an independent.
What a disgrace (“Dems The Breaks!” April 4).
A judge may have dismissed the charges against Mayor Adams, but his corruption is undeniable. Yet again, we see a politician evade accountability, leaving the taxpayers to bear the consequences.
Now, news has emerged that Adams intends to run as an independent, though realistically, his chances of reelection are slim. If he were wise, he would step back from the campaign and focus on regaining some semblance of respect.
Adams has played his cards and lost. He’s fortunate to have made it this far. It’s time for him to bow out.

Just a day after Judge Dale Ho dismissed the charges against Eric Adams, he has announced his run for reelection as an independent.
No matter how you present it — Adams remains a woke liberal. It’s like putting whipped cream on an onion; it’s still an onion at the end of the day.

I’ve been a devoted reader of The Post for over 50 years and agree with 99% of its viewpoints. The only exception is Eric Adams (“Adams’ Liberation Day,” Editorial, April 3).
I can’t comprehend why he still receives support from The Post. In my eyes, he is lost, and now he’s a candidate without a party.
Who truly deserves The Post’s backing? Curtis Sliwa, likely the Republican nominee for the mayoral election.

If Eric truly is an independent, he needs to demonstrate it and stop behaving like a liberal progressive.
Let’s face it: this move is only because he’s trailing behind Cuomo — the person linked to thousands of nursing-home fatalities and allegations of sexual harassment against several women. Isn’t that unfortunate?

Although Mayor Adams has avoided criminal charges, his reelection prospects are still bleak. He’s too moderate for New York City’s progressives and lacks the financial support and organizational backing of Cuomo or Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.
New Yorkers are left to choose between a Democratic Socialist and an ethically questionable egomaniac. Either way, both candidates are indebted to the far left and have to satisfy the extremists in the City Council.
It’s a disheartening choice between two undesirable options.

It’s high time Mayor Adams realizes his time is up and it’s time to retire.
If he’s fortunate, perhaps Andrew Cuomo will hire him as an assistant.

The Topic: New York City Democratic mayoral candidates positioning themselves against President Trump.
Unfortunately, the candidates have opted to spotlight President Trump as the primary threat to the city (“Mayoral rivals’ war on Trump,” April 4).
In their view, it’s not the rampant crime, illegal immigration, broken bail and discovery laws, or the overall decline in quality of life that matter.
It’s all about Trump. This is profoundly disheartening.

Leading this group of misguided candidates is none other than Andrew Cuomo, accused of sexual misconduct, yet he has the audacity to label Trump an “existential threat.” Meanwhile, their priorities remain unchanged: to protect illegal migrants while the city descends further into turmoil. This is the rhetoric that has debilitated a once-great city.
