Eva Longoria relocates to Mexico and Spain, leaving the US behind, but assures fans that everything will be fine
Hey Americans, Eva Longoria sympathizes with you.
In a recent interview with Marie Claire to celebrate her career as she approaches her fifth decade, the politically active Texas native openly acknowledged her privilege.
“I’m privileged,” she admitted.
However, she then went on to speak about her experience living in both Mexico and Spain, while also criticizing President Trump.
“I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so fortunate. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sorrow is for them.”
Don’t feel pity for us, Eva.
Don’t even take a Xanax on our behalf.
Even without the wealth and connections she possesses, we will find a way to persevere in the greatest nation on earth.
And people from all around the world will continue to risk everything for the opportunity to live here and experience the freedom and boundless opportunities that helped propel her to stardom.
Especially now, as our country moves in a positive direction. Wokeness and DEI are fading, and individuals are no longer censoring themselves to avoid backlash. Independent thinking is gaining popularity once more.
During the recent election, identity politics, open borders, and progressive policies that harmed our cities and drove up living costs were decisively rejected.
Many misunderstood her comments, believing she was the only celebrity to actually follow through on a promise to leave the country if a Republican president was elected.
However, that was not the case.
“Please tell them I didn’t leave the United States because of Trump,” she requested in an interview with Ana Navarro in “The View: Behind the Table” podcast, explaining that she had been in Europe for a few years.
“I’ve always been a proud American. Proud Texan,” she added after facing backlash for her disconnected interview.
Of course, madame. We heard your earlier remarks when you expressed pity for those living here and described the country as “a scary place.”
Longoria did not leave because of the MAGA movement. She departed California after the pandemic, citing homelessness and high taxes in a Marie Claire article. These issues are exacerbated by… politicians on the far left like California governor Gavin Newsom and, notably, Kamala Harris – the same individual she tirelessly campaigned for but who was not elected president.
Despite no longer residing in the US, Longoria, like George Clooney, remains actively engaged in Democratic party politics. She spoke at the DNC in August and attempted to mobilize Latino voters for the Democrats.
However, these quality of life issues that troubled her prompted sensible liberals to shift to the Republican party and vote for Trump. The president-elect secured his victory by forming a new multi-ethnic coalition of working-class Americans.
This was also a substantial rejection of the elites and celebrities like Longoria who campaigned for Harris.
But that’s okay. The “Desperate Housewives” actress has her escapes in Mexico and Spain, which are surely utopian, right?
No. Or as they say in both those countries, No.
I have strong ties to Spain. My grandparents hailed from the Basque Country and my favorite uncle from Galicia. Most of my family holds dual citizenship, and some divide their time between there and the US. I visit at least once a year. It’s a unique country, but not without its own issues with migrants, corruption, and a growing right-wing presence.
Just two weeks ago, the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, fled a disaster zone after angry locals, displeased with the lack of government response following catastrophic floods, attacked his vehicle. The King and Queen remained, but their car was also hit by mud and rocks.
Then there’s Mexico, where some areas are dominated by drug cartels and violent political assassinations appear to be a national sport.
In both of these places, Longoria’s wealth and fame, which she acquired in the US, protect her. Wherever she chooses to call home, she will remain a privileged, affluent celebrity.
