FEMA Missteps Highlight Musk, Trump, and DOGE’s Concerns About Federal Spending Madness

The left’s outrage over DOGE’s inquiries into federal spending continues unabated — perhaps driven by the very legitimacy of DOGE’s efforts: Consider the case of FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

A recent audit by the Inspector General revealed that during the COVID pandemic, FEMA allocated $9.6 billion in a grant for medical assistance to a single state, yet it still hasn’t determined whether $8.1 billion of that amount adhered to grant regulations.

To make matters worse, $1.5 billion of the $9.6 billion granted was unnecessary, exceeding the state’s actual expenditures.

An astonishing $1.1 billion of that $1.5 billion excess was supported by merely “one piece of paper without itemized costs and not prepared by a licensed Professional Engineer or cost-estimating expert,” according to the Inspector General.

The total grant of $9.6 billion represents nearly 14% of the $69 billion FEMA allocated for COVID-19 medical assistance nationwide through the end of 2023.

This raises the question: Are we really looking at almost $10 billion of taxpayer funds distributed without any regard for need or accountability?

Elon isn’t putting enough pressure on these individuals.

Indeed, the left’s protests regarding FEMA and every other DOGE initiative are framed as concerns about the supposed damage any funding cuts might incur.

However, these are actually just the wails of anxious little beneficiaries fearing that their funding sources may soon run dry.

And they’re also worried about losing a significant instrument of political power.

Let’s not forget that a FEMA official directed staff not to distribute emergency supplies to Trump supporters in Florida after Hurricane Milton.

The official in question, Marn’i Washington, was dismissed but later went public, revealing that this practice was widespread.

Former FEMA head Deanne Criswell naturally denied these allegations, while mainstream media branded them as misinformation.

But how plausible is it that Washington was the only FEMA executive engaging in such behavior?

For nearly a decade, America’s ruling class has treated its constituents as if they are mere subjects, deserving harsh consequences for ever daring to question their authority.

What we are witnessing now is a crucial — and beneficial — jolt.
