Finally, President Biden seeks to address border issues through executive orders
After more than three years, President Biden is considering taking action on the border issue.
During an interview with Univision on Tuesday, Biden suggested that he may sign an executive order by the end of the month to strengthen border security using the authority granted in Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This order would prevent any migrant who crosses the border illegally from applying for asylum.
However, Biden expressed uncertainty about whether he has the power to do so, stating, “Some are suggesting that I should just go ahead and try it. And if I get shut down by the court, I get shut down by the court.”
The language of Section 212(f) clearly allows the president to “suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens” if it is determined to be detrimental to the interests of the United States.
President Donald Trump had used this authority multiple times in executive orders, which Biden revoked upon taking office.
Despite previous discussions of executive action on the border, the White House backed off when faced with criticism from the Democratic left.
Now, Biden is considering taking action on the border issue, which has been a source of criticism in public opinion polls.
We hope that he stops acting as if he is powerless and takes action for the benefit of the nation.
The voters may not forgive him for the consequences of not taking action on the border issue, such as allowing criminals, terrorists, and drugs to enter the country.
It is crucial for Biden to listen to the people’s concerns in order to improve his chances in the upcoming election.
