Gas-stove-war denialists, Sunny Hostin’s China lie

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

This claim:

“They’re putting a lot more black people in jail here [than Uighurs in China].”

Sunny Hostin, Tuesday

We say: “The View,” which Hostin helps host, remains perhaps TV’s leading source of actual disinformation.

Hostin was trying to score a point on co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin’s defense of America by bad-mouthing her own country.

But she mangled the facts: At least a million-plus Uighurs are rotting away in China’s brutal camps; 760,000 black Americans are currently in humane US prisons.

She also trivialized an ongoing genocide.

Nice work, Sunny!

Flashback:

“People Are Getting Real Heated Over a Gas Stove Ban That Isn’t Even Happening”

The New Republic, Jan. 12

We say: Remember when gas-stove bans were fake?

Turns out they’re quite real.

Per The Wall Street Journal, New York is poised to ban gas hookups in new construction — and according to plenty of other reports since January, the White House still has its eyes on gas stoves as well (despite denials).

So protests against the anti-stove crusade were 100% justified, and anyone who claimed a ban was off the table was, er, gaslighting.

President Biden claimed his economic policies are responsible for the creation of 12.4 million new jobs.

These numbers:

“Here’s what it looks like across the country: a record 12.4 million new jobs, including 800,000 manufacturing jobs.”

— President Biden, Tuesday, on his economic policies

We say: Biden loves this tired old lie.

Trouble is, only around 3 million of those jobs are “new.”

The rest were recovered as COVID receded — which happened at a far slower pace under Biden than it did under Donald Trump.

The blatant dishonesty hasn’t stopped Biden from trotting this claim out at every possible opportunity.

Enough’s enough, Joe.

This tweet:

We say: The move against TikTok is the opposite of “bad faith BS,” contra March 24 claims from Dem uber-flack Dan Pfeiffer.

First, the app is buddy-buddy with an authoritarian government, and its CEO ducked and dodged on questions around data theft and censorship at a recent congressional hearing.

And the anger against TikTok was strongly bipartisan.

Pfeiffer’s the only one engaging in bad-faith BS here.
