Gaslighters are finally acknowledging Biden’s age

An undeniable truth that was once hidden in plain sight has now become widely acknowledged: Joe Biden, at 81 years old, is aging and showing signs of decline.

It took a disastrous debate performance, an opinion piece from George Clooney, and a mix-up between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Putin, along with Biden referring to Donald Trump as his Vice President at a NATO summit, for people to finally believe what has been apparent for some time.

I have had concerns about the president’s fitness for a while, but the debate at the end of June exceeded my expectations. While his 78-year-old opponent is also aging, the contrast in sharpness between the two candidates was stark.

What surprised me the most was the number of people who were shocked by his performance as if they had just realized that the president’s mental acuity is not what it used to be.

Since the debate, there has been a shift in the conversation. It is now acceptable to acknowledge that a very elderly man is leading our country.

Multiple New York Times editorials have urged Joe Biden to step down. Democratic members of Congress have also called for his resignation. Even George Clooney, a longtime supporter of Biden, pleaded with the President to step aside in a recent op-ed.

While it’s commendable that they are finally acknowledging the truth, the sudden shift in narrative is eye-roll-inducing.

Many of us, including journalists at this publication, have been pointing out Biden’s gaffes for years. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns about his fitness to lead, those on the left chose to dismiss us as part of a right-wing smear campaign.

It is not unreasonable to expect the President to have the mental capacity necessary to lead the country. Dismissing valid criticisms because they come from a disliked media source does not make them any less true.

Concerns about Biden’s age and mental acuity have been voiced since his last campaign in 2020.

In March 2022, during the early days of the Ukraine war, he made a controversial statement about Putin that his staff later walked back.

In September 2022, he forgot the name of a deceased individual during a speech, and in June 2023, he made a bewildering statement about building a railroad across the Indian Ocean.

Biden has been seen reading instructions from teleprompters out loud during his speeches.

When asked about his mental focus on “60 Minutes,” his response did little to inspire confidence.

Despite attempts at redemption following the debate, Biden continues to make gaffes that undermine his credibility.

All of this is concerning and uninspiring. I do not want a mentally declining President or his unelected handlers ruling the country.

It is time to acknowledge Biden’s health issues, and those who have ignored the signs need to reevaluate the evidence and trust their own observations.
