Gazan school hit by Israeli attack resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties: Letters

The Topic: An Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza, reportedly housing Hamas militants.

In its nearly two decades of governing Gaza, Hamas focused on building an extensive network of underground tunnels and embedding themselves within the civilian population, while neglecting the development of Gaza’s economy, amounting to over $1 billion in expenses (“Lesson for Hamas,” July 11).

Hamas strategically places its command centers in different buildings, including schools, where they store weapons and munitions, often using them as launch sites for missiles.
To truly mourn the lives lost in this conflict, it is crucial to demand that Hamas releases hostages and surrenders to Israel.

Irrespective of the ruling party, the United States continues to sanction the killing of numerous Gaza civilians by the brutal Israeli regime.

This tarnishes our image as a moral guidepost. Furthermore, the U.S. furnishes Israel with large 2,000-pound bombs, perpetuating the assault on a disenfranchised population stripped of their human rights by Israel. As citizens, we must strive to restore America’s moral compass.

When faced with cancer, our natural response is to fight it using various methods.

Just as we cut, radiate, and chemically treat cancer to achieve remission, Israel must involve the IDF to eradicate Hamas.

The article’s report of Israel bombing a school was sourced from “local health authorities.”

However, the fact that these authorities belong to Hamas’ Gaza Health Ministry was omitted. Furthermore, the building in question was not functioning as a school but rather served as a military base, much like Osama bin Laden’s hideout was not a private residence.

As usual, Hamas uses civilian buildings for military operations, thus making them legitimate military targets. It is disheartening to witness the dissemination of pro-Hamas propaganda.

Committing airstrikes that result in the deaths of innocent civilians and then justifying it as an attack on an enemy stronghold is unacceptable. Israeli atrocities need to cease.

Another day of conflict in Gaza, another day of tragedy, with conflicting reports.

Hamas, controlling the Gaza Health Ministry and Civil Defense agency, claims that over 90 individuals, primarily children, were killed in the airstrike on a Hamas command site. Israel, making efforts to minimize civilian casualties, argues that these numbers are exaggerated.

Hamas is known to manipulate casualty figures, counting fighters among civilian deaths.

Conversely, the IDF’s assessments suggest significantly lower casualty numbers. Nonetheless, I hold Hamas accountable for any innocent lives lost.

Israel continues its pattern of bombing schools in Gaza, resulting in civilian casualties while claiming Hamas was using the facilities as shelters.

President Biden’s red line was crossed multiple times with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s desire to invade Rafah, starting with an attack on a tent camp in Rafah that caused numerous casualties. Netanyahu continues the war without facing consequences.

Hamas has initiated five wars since Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, none of which were honored with cease-fires. Failure to eliminate Hamas will only lead to more wars.

The conflict in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels of horror, exemplified by the recent bombing of the al-Tabin school.

This tragic incident, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians, many of whom were in prayer at a mosque, highlights the brutal reality of the ongoing war. The targeting of schools and hospitals, meant to be safe havens, underscores the systematic violence inflicted on the people of Gaza.
