The Controversy: Algerian Boxer Imane Khelif’s Victory Over Italian Boxer Angela Carini Sparking Gender Debate.

Discussing the unsettling scenario in women’s boxing in Paris: The tale of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif goes beyond what The Post has portrayed (“Fairness takes a woke beating,” Aug. 2).

Khelif, who identifies as female, was disqualified from the World Championships by the International Boxing Association in 2022 and 2023 due to gender testing failures. However, the IBA has not disclosed details of these tests or the conditions under which they were conducted. Additionally, the International Olympic Committee does not recognize these tests.

Regardless, steps need to be taken to protect female athletes at the Olympics. This is a matter of safety rather than avoiding hurt feelings, as it’s only a matter of time before a female athlete is severely injured or worse by a biological male.

Addressing the misconceptions: Khelif is not a transgender athlete.

Khelif was born and has always lived as a female.

Moreover, numerous women have higher testosterone levels, and there are conditions in which biological females possess XY chromosomes. Khelif likely fits the profile of an intersex woman.

She has been permitted to compete in women’s boxing as she is indeed a female.

There is a prevailing woke culture that is impacting the Olympics.

Over time, the competition may include individuals with genetic or hormonal advantages over women. I believe individuals with any hormonal advantage should be barred from competing as females.

The burden now falls on women to take a firmer stand on this issue as the voices of a few are dominating the conversation.

It is unjust for athletes who have trained diligently to face competition from individuals allowed to participate to avoid hurt feelings.

Observing the Italian boxer’s defeat, where she quit after 46 seconds for her own safety, was distressing.

Attempting to justify this situation was unacceptable. Is the IOC willing to put a female boxer at risk in the ring in the name of ideology?

Apparently, they are, and it is reprehensible.
