Here’s why most Americans DO want to go back, Kamala

“We’re not going back,” Kamala Harris tells her crowds, which chant, “We can’t go back” — yet most of us do want to go back.

We want to go back to when inflation was reliably low, and working-class wages were steadily rising — for minorities, at the fastest pace in generations.

We want to go back to affordable mortgages and car loans.

We want to go back to when gas was cheap and America was an energy exporter, not dependent on the monsters who run nations like Venezuela, Russia and Iran for fuel.

We want to go back to when the border was under control, when our president wasn’t waving millions of economic migrants into the interior because of clearly bogus “asylum” claims, when terrorists couldn’t waltz through because the Border Patrol was too overwhelmed to catch an endless tide of “gotaways,” when cities like New York weren’t stuck paying for tens of thousands of public charges.

We want to go back to a world that wasn’t aflame, with Vladimir Putin on the march in Ukraine and Iran’s proxies attacking Israel on all sides — when America’s allies knew we had their backs and its enemies knew to watch out.

We want to return to a foreign policy that doesn’t enrich Tehran, or tell Moscow to take new US hostages whenever it wants some of its spies and arms dealers freed from Western prisons.

We want to return to a government that doesn’t mandate noxious DEI racism in our classrooms, that doesn’t seek to force boys into girls’ high-school sports — and doesn’t sic the FBI on parents who speak out at local school-board meetings.

We want to get back to leadership that doesn’t gaslight us nonstop, claiming our economic woes are “transitory” or just “rich people’s problems,” that a president in obvious, deep decline is “sharp as a tack,” that a porous border is somehow “under control.”

We want leaders who won’t make taxpayers who never went to college (or paid off their loans) bail out students so they’ll vote for the party of giveaways.

We want to go back to a government that works — that gives workers the chance to do better, companies the chance to grow, families the right raise their kids as they see fit.

We want to undo all the “progress” of the Biden-Harris years, not keep digging the country even deeper into the hole at home and abroad.

We can go back, and we must.
