ICC issues arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sparking controversy and concern.
The International Criminal Court has shown itself to be a dangerous joke by pursuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
They are being accused of pursuing Hamas terrorists in Gaza, but the ICC charges them with “willful killing,” “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare,” and “willfully causing great suffering,” while overlooking the fact that Israel is only targeting terrorists.
Accusing Israel of war crimes implies that it has no right to defend itself, and it seems like the ICC wants Israel to be destroyed.
Civilian casualties in Gaza are regrettable but not war crimes, especially when Israel’s military goes to great lengths to protect civilians, resulting in a lower civilian-to-combatant death ratio compared to other modern wars.
In a morally perverse move, the ICC is also seeking warrants for Hamas leaders, who have shown themselves to be war criminals through their actions targeting innocent civilians.
The ICC’s actions will likely fuel antisemitism, embolden Hamas, and prolong the conflict, while also having no jurisdiction over Israel, as it is not a member of the court.
The US Secretary of State noted that the ICC has no jurisdiction over this matter and was created with limited jurisdiction, which does not appear to have been followed in this case.
The ICC’s announcement has been criticized by President Biden and raises concerns about similar actions against Americans in the future.
America and Israel did not join the ICC for this precise reason – to prevent unjust actions driven by anti-American, anti-Israel, and antisemitic biases.
If the arrest warrants are issued, those responsible should face consequences from the US.
