ICE Raids Will Enhance Safety in NYC
The initial deportation raids by ICE during the Trump administration are focused solely on the most dangerous individuals — gang leaders, suspected double murderers, and similar offenders — yet local politicians continue to react with panic and outrage as federal agents take action to protect New Yorkers.
City Comptroller Brad Lander described the arrests as “heartbreaking,” accusing City Hall of “failing to stand up for our people” by … what, attempting to halt lawful federal enforcement?
“This mass deportation agenda is targeting our loved ones,” claimed Rep. Nydia Velazquez.
It’s not a “mass deportation”; ICE has only apprehended around 30 offenders.
And those apprehended are not “our people,” let alone “our loved ones.”
The large numbers of officers are apprehending violent illegal immigrants, including murderers, extortionists, kidnappers, and burglars.
Among those caught was the brutal Tren de Aragua “ringleader” Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, who is wanted on several charges, including kidnapping, burglary, and threats, from a Bronx apartment complex.
He is reportedly one of the heavily armed assailants involved in a video-recorded break-in of an apartment in Aurora, Colorado, last August.
“Thank goodness they apprehended him,” expressed one grateful resident.
A Dominican national, wanted for a double homicide in his country, was also taken into custody, as reported by Fox News.
“Criminals like this will continue to be removed from our streets,” tweeted Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, alongside footage of a “criminal alien with kidnapping, assault & burglary” being escorted away in handcuffs.
Hear, Hear! Criminals of any kind should not be on our streets, especially those who have also violated immigration laws.
However, many New York politicians, such as Lander and Velasquez, are both pro-criminal and pro-illegal immigration, joining a chorus of dismay regarding the raids.
“With ICE operating in our city, fear is spreading,” shouted City Councilman Shaun Abreu. He criticized Mayor Eric Adams’ “lack of leadership” for cooperating with ICE.
State Attorney General Letitia James set aside her law-enforcement role to assume the position of a defense attorney: “I am monitoring the situation to ensure … [illegal criminal migrants’] rights are not being violated,” she tweeted.
“We should do everything … to protect people from the severe and oppressive policies of the new federal administration,” lamented state Sen. Julia Salazar (D-Brooklyn).
This is absolute madness: ICE is not targeting “children” or innocent individuals. The raids are aimed at those who have committed crimes, are facing charges, or have been ordered to leave the country.
Moreover, federal law fully permits the removal of illegal immigrants who commit crimes.
ICE is simply adhering to the law and making the streets of Gotham safer.
The real tragedy? That the Biden administration not only failed to enforce the law but actively defied it, inviting millions despite the risks, including gang members, suspected terrorists, and dangerous drug users.
And failing to seriously vet those it allowed entry.
A recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll indicates that 71% of Americans support the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.
New Yorkers, who have greatly suffered from crimes committed by migrants, should welcome these raids.
And demand to know what on earth Brad Lander, Shaun Abreu & co. are thinking.
