Is Janet Yellen genuinely unfazed by inflation, or just putting on a brave face?

It is possible that Janet Yellen was being truthful on Monday when she stated that she is not surprised by the rising prices of groceries.

Given her status as a multimillionaire, she may genuinely not feel the financial strain.

When asked if she has been to the grocery store recently, Yellen responded affirmatively, mentioning that she goes every week, but does not perceive any significant price increases.

With an estimated net worth of $20 million, it is understandable if she is disconnected from the reality of milk and meat prices.

However, it is also a possibility that Yellen is not being entirely honest, as she was consistently misleading throughout 2021, claiming that inflation was only temporary.

She played a significant role in driving inflation through the Biden administration’s large expenditures, such as the American Rescue Plan Act ($1.8 trillion) and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act ($765 billion).

As a top Federal Reserve policymaker from 2010 to 2018, Yellen contributed to long-term inflation by participating in the process of “quantitative easing,” resulting in the creation of $4 trillion out of thin air.

This history gives little credibility to her current claims that inflation will decrease to 2% shortly after the next election.

On the other hand, ordinary Americans are feeling the impact of inflation at the grocery store, with prices of eggs rising over 40% and meat nearly 30% since Biden assumed office.

While Yellen and other wealthy individuals may not perceive this as significant, low- and middle-income shoppers who are struggling to make ends meet certainly do.

Under Biden, inflation-adjusted incomes have decreased by 3.9%, indicating the financial strain experienced by many individuals.

Despite claims from the president’s supporters, the reality is that most people are feeling the effects of inflation and economic challenges.
