John Fetterman’s Confrontation with ‘The View’ About Trump’s NYC Trial Highlights Democrats’ Ongoing Denial
If you want to ignite a frenzy among liberal “journalists,” just speak the truth.
That’s exactly what Senator John Fetterman did during his appearance on “The View.”
While discussing the current political climate, the Pennsylvania Democrat asserted that he believes Trump’s hush-money trial in New York City was “politically motivated and wouldn’t have been prosecuted if it were anyone else.”
This statement is evidently accurate: Trump faced accusations of expired business-records misdemeanors that were escalated to questionable felonies under the pretense of a dubious conspiracy theory regarding alleged federal crimes, which were never formally charged — a brand-new legal principle crafted specifically to target the former president.
From the outset, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s prosecution was steeped in political motives, part of a broader strategy by local, state, and national Democrats aimed at undermining Trump’s chances for re-election.
In fact, notable Biden ally Matthew Colangelo resigned from his position in the Justice Department to assist with this case, and even some left-leaning commentators have deemed it inappropriate.
However, for “View” host Sunny Hostin, a vocal proponent of woke culture and an outspoken Resistance advocate, spotlighting this issue incited her signature indignation.
“Just for clarification,” she exclaimed. “Did you mean that the 34-count case in which Donald Trump was found guilty of various financial crimes was politically motivated here in New York?”
She, along with much of the leftist elite, struggles to distinguish between reality and ideology.
While the GOP’s victory in November has prompted some necessary reconsideration, denial of reality remains prevalent among Democrats.
This is unfortunate, as there are several notable Democrats who are rational and genuinely wish to govern the country effectively (even if we disagree with their methods).
Fetterman is one; Massachusetts Representative Seth Moulton is another; and more are starting to emerge.
Yet, as long as the delusional faction continues to dominate, sensible Democrats face an uphill battle.
Acknowledging that there is a problem is the crucial first step toward recovery. The broader Democratic Party needs to realize this before making any progress.
