Jordanian citizen caught attempting to enter US Marine base illegally
On the morning of May 3, two men in a box truck attempted to gain entry to Quantico Marine Corps Base by pretending to be Amazon delivery men. Military police grew suspicious and directed them to a secondary security inspection area. Despite orders to stop, the driver accelerated and tried to forcefully enter the base’s town center. Quick-thinking MPs managed to stop the truck using road barriers.
The Marines cited the two individuals for trespassing on federal property, as reported by the Potomac Local News. The base spokesman confirmed the basic details of the incident but provided no further information.
The story gained attention when reporter Kelly Sienkowski revealed details from multiple anonymous sources. According to sources, one of the individuals in the truck was a Jordanian foreign national who recently crossed the southern border into the U.S. Additionally, one of the individuals is reportedly on the U.S. terrorist watch list.
Following the trespassing citation, the Marine Corps handed the individuals over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However, questions regarding a potential terrorism motive, the presence of weapons, and the individuals’ entry into the United States remain unanswered.
Sienkowski’s persistence in seeking further information has been met with silence from government agencies. Despite reaching out to various elected officials, including Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger and local candidates, Sienkowski has struggled to uncover more details about the incident.
The lack of media coverage and transparency surrounding the event has raised concerns about the impact of border security issues on national security. Sienkowski’s efforts to shed light on the incident underscore the need for accountability and information regarding localized incidents with potential national security implications.
