Jussie Smollett puts career above unity in America
Jussie Smollett stained half the nation with a lie that he is now getting away with.
Smollett fabricated a hate crime against himself, alleging that gangs of Donald Trump supporters were targeting minorities in Chicago.
In January 2019, Smollett claimed he was attacked by two white men in MAGA hats who hurled derogatory terms at him. The investigation later revealed this to be a concocted story.
The two men involved in the hoax were Abimbola and Ola Osundairo, paid by Smollett to participate.
This incident worsened an already tense political climate and undermined genuine victims of attacks.
The State’s Attorney Kim Foxx tried to cover up the case initially, but a special prosecutor took over, leading to Smollett’s conviction and sentence.
Now, Smollett has been released on a technicality, denying justice to those affected.
Despite overwhelming evidence, Smollett’s plea deal had to be honored according to the Illinois Supreme Court.
He exploited race and politics for personal gain, with a lack of concern for the repercussions.
If not exposed, Smollett’s lie could have fueled further division in the country.
His refusal to acknowledge his actions and manipulation show his sociopathic nature.
Americans should not forget his deceit, even if he attempts a comeback.
