Kamala Harris mishandles Hurricane Milton response due to lack of concern

Vice President Kamala Harris struggled to deliver an emergency storm briefing without drawing attention to herself.

Let’s look back at what happened.

During Hurricane Milton’s approach to Florida, President Biden held a public briefing with several key officials.

Seems reasonable enough.

Harris, who appeared via Zoom for some reason, a peculiar choice in itself, appeared distracted by something behind the camera, covered her mouth with her hands, and exclaimed, “It’s a live broadcast!”

Clearly, she was silencing off-screen staff members attempting to feed her lines to make it appear as though she had something valuable to contribute.

A classic “Veep” moment (and not the first time Harris has embodied the clueless Selina Meyer).

Hardly reassuring to the anxious people of Florida or the voters Harris hopes to sway.

This incident followed her failed attempt to criticize Gov. Ron DeSantis (who performed admirably in managing his state’s disaster readiness and response).

She tried to attack him for not answering her calls regarding the hurricane, baselessly asserting he was playing politics.

Only to be completely refuted first by DeSantis himself, who clarified she has no involvement in disaster relief and never contacted him about past hurricanes, and then by Biden, who commended the Florida Republican’s exceptional hands-on leadership.

In an apparent effort at damage control, Harris released a video showing her speaking on her cellphone from Air Force 2 with St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch before the hurricane hit.

However, as an observant X user pointed out, it was merely a clip of her conversing with Welch. No valuable information, no disaster preparedness guidance, nothing.

In essence, a low-budget campaign advertisement exploiting the potential (now real) suffering of millions.

This is the individual aspiring to lead the free world.

A habitual user of nonsensical language with an abysmal policy track record who somehow also bungled a significant, bipartisan opportunity to demonstrate to voters that she does care about their well-being.

Except, evidently, she does not.

And in her hurricane blunder, as in all other aspects — the border, the economy, everything — it becomes apparent.
