Kamala Harris’ Pretend Border Security Excuses

Kamala Harris is seeking to shift blame for the border crisis and she believes she has a strategy to do so.

Every time she addresses the issue, she points the finger at Donald Trump for derailing the Senate border bill that she claims would have significantly strengthened border security.

“It was the most robust border security bill we’ve seen in decades,” Harris emphasized during her recent visit to the border.

“It was endorsed by the border patrol union, and it should be in effect today, producing results in real time — right now for our country.”

She argued that “Donald Trump sabotaged it. He contacted some friends in Congress and instructed them to stop the bill because he prefers exploiting a problem rather than resolving it.”

She repeated this narrative during the debate, and it is probable that Tim Walz will echo this sentiment in the upcoming showdown with JD Vance.

This tactic, devised to address a vulnerability in the Harris-Walz ticket, is shameless on various levels.

While it is true that Trump vehemently opposed the Senate bill, it is not as if he single-handedly thwarted legislation that most Republicans were inclined to support.

Nearly every advocate for stricter border control criticized the bill as fundamentally flawed. Moreover, a few Senate Democrats also opposed it.

The core issue with the Senate bill is that it would have reinforced the chaotic Biden-Harris policy of welcoming migrants into the U.S. without repercussions rather than reversing it.

Under current law, migrants who show “credible fear” are supposed to be held until their court hearings, while those who do not demonstrate such fear should be detained until they are deported.

The Biden-Harris administration has disregarded this legal framework by releasing masses of illegal immigrants into the U.S.

The lack of commitment to enforcing the law raises doubts about the administration’s ability to adhere to any enforcement measures in the Senate bill. Moreover, the bill lacked teeth.

One provision in the bill allowed the President to expel illegal immigrants if there were 5,000 or more encounters at the Southern border daily for a week.

Setting aside loopholes, this provision implied that encounters up to 5,000 per day, a historically high number, were acceptable.

Considering that the administration already had the authority to secure the border more effectively than it did, this trigger was unnecessary.

Furthermore, the bill sought to streamline the asylum process by empowering asylum officers to grant asylum instead of immigration judges, and it also aimed to legislate the authority to release aliens.

Although Harris highlights the bill’s provision for hiring additional border patrol agents, such provisions for more resources or manpower could have been introduced separately without the baggage of the rest of the bill.

The truth is that the Biden-Harris administration deliberately dismantled a functional border system under Trump, despite being forewarned about the dire consequences.

The floodgates remained open even when major city mayors pleaded for relief.

Only when the Biden administration recognized the political advantage this was providing Trump did they pivot to a tougher stance and begin supporting the Senate bill.

While apprehensions at the border have decreased, the administration has found ways to admit otherwise inadmissible aliens into the country through parole programs, which are essentially a tactic to manipulate border statistics.

This is a ruse, much like the latest narrative being created by Kamala Harris.

A few years ago, she vehemently opposed immigration enforcement and sponsored several bills as a Senator to relax the system.

In the realm of immigration, as in other areas, she aims to portray herself as someone she is not: She is a fake advocate for stronger borders promoting a counterfeit border-enforcement bill.
