Kamala Harris’ Proposal for Black Men is Puzzling, Offensive and Troubling
The campaign of Harris-Walz seemed to have a questionable approach with Kamala Harris’ “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” which appears both insulting and peculiar.
The list of policy priorities aimed at aiding black men in achieving their goals is a strange combination of blatantly unconstitutional propositions, irrelevant promises, and what appears to be racially charged remarks.
The promise of a million fully forgivable small-business loans worth up to $20,000 for black entrepreneurs and individuals who have faced obstacles in starting a new business has been critiqued as unconstitutional racial discrimination by the courts.
In an attempt to backtrack, a campaign aide anonymously told The Wall Street Journal that the program would not be race-specific, implying it may not be as pro-black as initially perceived, yet the campaign has not formally addressed this change.
Other pledges include the legalization of marijuana and the creation of opportunities for Black Americans to thrive in the industry, which may insinuate a biased assumption that African-Americans have a unique connection to cannabis.
Additionally, the vow to safeguard cryptocurrency investments for Black men raises questions as to how these investments can be made secure, given the volatility of crypto values and the inherent risk linked to potential high rewards.
Ultimately, what black men desire aligns with the wants of the general population: a robust economy offering job opportunities with potential wage growth, an end to inflation, secure borders, among other critical issues where Donald Trump surpasses Harris in popularity polls. This could explain the potential decrease in support for Harris among black men compared to typical Democratic backing.
The independent thinking demonstrated by “the brothers,” as former President Barack Obama referred to them, appears to challenge the narrative being presented, making it uncertain whether such statements will sway their opinions.
