Keep calm until we gather more information
There have been bomb threats sent to various schools and town offices in Springfield, Ohio, and there is a rush to blame Donald Trump without concrete evidence.
On Thursday morning, emails were sent to multiple agencies and media outlets in Springfield, according to the City Commission office.
More threats were received on Friday by city commissioners, a municipal employee, City Hall, three schools, and the local Motor Vehicle and License bureau, as confirmed by city spokeswoman Karen Graves.
Throughout the week, there has been widespread speculation on the internet, including rumors about Haitian migrants consuming local pets in Springfield.
However, the town of 58,000 is currently dealing with a significant influx of up to 20,000 Haitian migrants admitted under the Temporary Protected Status program by the Harris-Biden administration.
During Tuesday’s debate, Trump fueled the rumors, while his running-mate J.D. Vance has addressed various issues.
City officials acknowledge that the influx of migrants has placed strain on housing, healthcare, and school resources. Locals have expressed concerns about migrant behavior on the streets, leading to accidents and fatalities.
Despite the attention and memes, it remains a significant national story.
As for the bomb threats, the FBI is investigating to determine the source before conclusions are drawn.
America’s media seem to have no shortage of other topics to focus on.
