Letters highlight Kamala Harris’ shifting centrist political views

The Issue: Kamala Harris’ public move toward centrism despite her hyper-progressive history.

Kudos to Vice President Kamala Harris for advocating that the nation’s 4.3 million service-industry employees be exempt from paying taxes on their tipped income (“Kameleon in true colors,” Editorial, Aug. 12).

If only former President Donald Trump hadn’t thought of that first. Oh, wait, he actually did, to great fanfare.

There’s nothing wrong with publicly agreeing with someone’s policy as long as you credit the original source. But stealing someone’s policy and trying to sell it as your own original idea? That’s weak.
And while Trump has a proven record of reducing taxes, Democrats recoil from tax cuts of any kind like a vampire sprinkled with holy water. It’s laughable to believe this serial flip-flopper on anything.

It has been said that Harris’ next good idea would be her first.

Unfortunately for her, she echoed Trump’s plan not to tax workers on their tips. Now would be a good time to forgive Trump for his style and embrace all of his policies, which can benefit all Americans.

We all know that the Democrats lied when they kept saying that President Biden was running for reelection, as it ended up being a smoke screen to sneak Harris onto the ballot.

In essence, the nomination was just handed to her. And now it is up to Trump to show that he deserves a second turn in the White House.

He has to hammer home that Harris stole his idea of not taxing tips, and that she doesn’t have an original thought in her head.

He also has to highlight her ultra liberal policies when she was a district attorney and senator.

Harris has spent her entire political career supporting one far-left idea after another.

But now that she has been anointed as the Democratic Party candidate, she disavows her life’s work in favor of a newly found identity as a centrist. Why? Isn’t she proud of her California-style liberalism? Apparently not.

She has endorsed every policy that President Biden has presented. These policies, not those of Trump, are the real threat to democracy. But the gaslighting of voters continues.

Harris plagiarized Trump: When the latter pledged not to tax tips, Harris then advocated for the same thing.

Harris also claims she would increase the minimum wage which, if implemented, would cause many restaurants to close — just like it did in California, where many establishments have shut down since Gov. Gavin Newsom implemented a $20 minimum wage.

Harris also stated that she would fix our border crisis and tackle rising inflation. She’s in office now, so why doesn’t she have President Biden implement these policies now? Why wait?

Am I the only voter in America who knows that Harris didn’t fall from the sky?

Harris is our current vice president and former senator. She has an actual record to run on. Record-high inflation? That’s on her. War everywhere, our borders overrun and fentanyl flooding in? That’s also on Harris.

Don’t be fooled by the great makeover of Harris, the chameleon.

Democrats and the media are already claiming she was never the border czar. However, she not only failed as border czar — with illegal aliens pouring over the border at levels never seen before — she also failed as the attorney general of California. Crime soared in the state after she took that position.

She even lied to us about Biden’s mental health for 3 ¹/₂ years. So why should anyone believe what she says now?

Regarding The Post’s cover story on Harris’ shifting positions, I’m reminded of the classic Groucho Marx quip: “I have my principles, and if you don’t like them, I have others.”
