Letters: Pro-Palestinian Protests Erupt at DNC in Chicago

The Issue: Protests at the Democratic National Convention over its stance on the Israel-Hamas war.

Democrats are against a fence at the southern border but support a fence to protect their own gathering in Chicago. It’s ironic how this contradiction plays out. There seem to be more cops in Chicago now than at the border. The question that arises is why the cops are not allowing these protesters in as they did at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Protesters at the DNC fight against an institution that has supported Israeli actions in Gaza. They demonstrate against the corrupt political system in the country.

The Democratic Party cannot be forgiven for its complicity in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Harris and other Democrats may need to face repercussions for their actions.

Despite her position, Harris has not made significant changes in three years and has faced criticism for various decisions.
