Letters suggest that the Secret Service is unable to adequately protect Donald Trump
The Concern: Worries about the Secret Service’s ability to protect Donald Trump.
It’s puzzling how a former US president and current GOP presidential nominee lacks sufficient Secret Service protection (“Agency in ‘course’ correct,” Sept. 18).
With Trump’s potential comeback on the horizon and opposition from the left, he should have top-notch security akin to that of the current president.
The absence of such security gives the impression that the Biden-Harris administration may not be overly concerned if something were to happen to him.
That is unacceptable.

Acting Director Ronald Rowe Jr. avoided questions about the assassination attempt and the Secret Service’s actions by suggesting that Trump’s golf outing was not part of his schedule, implying they did not have time to secure the perimeter of the golf course during his game.
This lackluster excuse is a failure of duty that warrants Rowe’s resignation, following the security lapse during the first attempt on Trump’s life.

Trump needs increased Secret Service protection to prevent violent opponents from obstructing him at any cost.

After the first assassination attempt on Trump, President Biden should have promptly fired then-US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle for her mishandling of the situation.
Given this subsequent security breach, Director Rowe should be terminated immediately.
However, as Trump noted in his debate with Harris, firings are rare in the Biden administration.

It appears that the Secret Service may not be overly concerned about the possibility of an assassination attempt on Trump.
It almost seems like the agency makes it easy for assassins to target him.

The Topic: Rich Lowry’s column on Trump’s rumored “pet-eating” incident and Biden’s immigration policies.
The implications of our lax borders and the involvement of authorities are almost too absurd to believe (“The fur is flying in Ohio town,,” Rich Lowry, Sept. 14).
How can the left ignore the concerns of ordinary Americans while pretending everything is fine?

Republican VP candidate JD Vance propagated a false story about “illegal immigrants” from Haiti invading Springfield, Ohio and committing heinous acts without credible evidence.
Trump and Vance perpetuate a dangerous lie, and they must face consequences from voters for this deception.

False narratives circulating about migrants harming cats in Ohio are distressing for cat lovers.
