The Issue: LSU player Angel Reese’s criticism of First Lady Jill Biden inviting the Iowa team to the White House.

Always fun to watch March Madness (“Hoops champ Jill diss,” April 6). It was very exciting this year.

What is not exciting is to read these conversations between First Lady Jill Biden and Angel Reese regarding visits to locker rooms and an invitation to visit the White House.

Reese is rude and brazen, dismissing the first lady. Whatever your politics, LSU has been thrust into the spotlight, and one would have hoped the team members would be gracious and happy to receive such an honor.

The whole team has been marred by her lack of respect. Or is she their spokesperson?

Referring to Reese, your headline reads, “Hoops champ Jill diss.”

Reese is far from a champion.

Reese is showing arrogance by not wanting to go to White House.

Biden was trying to be kind, and Reese is so dense that she can’t see that.

Biden’s suggestion may not have gone with tradition, but what’s the big deal?

I’m not a Democrat, but the fuss over the first lady’s remarks is ridiculous.

LSU won the women’s college basketball title, and then unsportsmanlike character took over.

Humility in sports is gone on many levels — case in point, Angel Reese.

Not only after the game did she feel the need to degrade opponents on the court, she’s now rejecting the ritual invite to the White House on the basis that other team was invited, too.

Cry me a river, Reese. Your selfishness will backfire one day.

Sadly, her behavior is more common now than ever, and sports are defined now by these self-absorbed gloaters.

LSU’s sad excuse for a president, William F. Tate, has no issue with his school’s basketball player Angel Reese and her embarrassing lack of class and sportsmanship.

If Reese were treated the same way she treated the Iowa player, he’d be all over it.

It’s sad to see that the president of a major university is as classless, unprofessional and disrespectful as one of his students.

He’s a bigger disgrace than the player.

So much for teaching kids the correct way to behave.

The Issue: Israeli police who entered Al-Aqsa mosque to remove Palestinians who were barricaded in.

As has been reported, the Palestinians who had barricaded themselves in the Al-Aqsa mosque had brought fireworks, sticks and stones into the mosque (“Cross-border rockets fired from Gaza after Israeli police raid Al-Aqsa mosque,” April 5).

In 1967, Israel liberated the Temple Mount from illegal Jordanian occupation.

Yet Israel graciously allowed the Jordanian waqf (religious authorities) to maintain authority over the mosques, which sit on Judaism’s holiest site.

Sadly, the waqf have not met their responsibilities — to allow freedom of worship to people of all faiths and to prevent the mosques from being used as staging grounds for attacks on non-Muslims.

Toby F. Block, Atlanta, Ga.

Israeli troops didn’t “raid” Al-Aqsa mosque.

Palestinian terrorists barricaded themselves inside the mosque and refused to leave, prevented other worshippers there from leaving and prepared to throw stones and fireworks down onto the Western Wall Plaza to injure Jewish worshippers.

This was contrary to an agreement reached between the waqf, which control events at the mosque, and Israel.

The terrorists were removed by Israeli law enforcement.
