The Issue: The lack of aid from the White House as the migrant crisis in New York City worsens.

Mayor Adams met with White House aide Tom Perez, and as far as we know, it was a “feel good” meeting — meaning we should not expect any aid from President Biden (“Adams has begged Biden for help 36 times — and gotten nothing,” Aug. 11).

I know exactly what is going to happen. Biden is going to come up with some federal funds just before the election. The Democrats think that this will make people vote for him no matter what Republican candidate he is running against.

They better wake up, because the citizens of this country have had it with the Democratic Party. Dems are in for a rude awakening.

My late wife and I commuted and worked in New York City for years, so that is my skin in the game.

Mayor Adams is another pandering political figure, who crowed about New York City as a sanctuary city and demonized Govs. Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis.

Well, look at him now: a groveling mayor who whines to the president, who could care less.

He could show a little manhood by putting New York City kids before illegal immigrants or working to make city streets safe to walk.

In the migrant crisis, Mayor Adams has abrogated his prime responsibilities to keep the city safe and solvent.

All that the mayor does is sound the alarm that the illegal immigrants continue to come and that the financial burden grows. He announces more shelters and beseeches Washington and Albany for more money.

Why would the illegal immigrants stop coming when the city offers free room and board and other benefits?

The mayor claims that he is powerless to stop the flow. I disagree. He can close the door. He can refuse to house the immigrants. He can turn-back the buses. He can end our status as a so-called sanctuary city. He can use political capital.

Without mayoral action, you can expect that a “temporary shelter” will be coming soon to your neighborhood.

Mark Seitelman

First, I want say that by keeping the sanctuary-city status, the mayor and governor have created this migrant crisis. This is all on them.

Second, the $12 billion that the migrant crisis could potentially cost the city could be enough to finally finish the repairs to the BQE or maybe the Williamsburg Bridge. God only knows how it hasn’t collapsed.

Third, why aren’t the people paying taxes to live in a safe and clean city and state being asked to vote where they would like their money spent?

Why are the taxpayers footing the bill for the deliberate disregard for New Yorkers? You can’t walk the streets or take a subway without fearing for your life, but by all means let’s support people who are here illegally and have not contributed one iota to this state. The mayor and governor are feckless, inept and should step down and let someone who is willing to do the job lead us.

It’s looking like even some Democrats are realizing that the taxpayers who are still left in New York City cannot abolish poverty worldwide by bringing all it here.

It’s also looking like it’s too late.

A crisis is always the best way to measure a person’s abilities.

As the migrants continue their unabated assault on the city, you must ask yourself how past political leaders would have reacted.

Just think of Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Rudy Giuliani during 9/11. Compare their competence to the incompetence of Adams and Gov. Hochul. By now, it’s clear to everyone that both are in way over their heads. It’s obvious no help is coming.

What’s more puzzling is how a bastion for progressive ideology like New York cannot secure a dime from a Democratic president or Senate. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.
