Letters to the Editor: Concerns About a Border Threat from an ISIS-linked Smuggler
The Issue: Uzbeck nationals who traveled to the border with a smuggler who may have ties to ISIS. Smugglers with ties to ISIS may be moving migrants, along with terrorists, over the Mexican border (“Shadow of ‘ISIS’ threat,” Aug. 30). President Biden says nothing about this serious matter. There are enough problems with migrants coming into the United States. It may be only a matter of time before there is another 9/11-style attack in one of the major cities. After that, the border may be closed, but it would be like closing the barn door after all the animals have fled.

As we approach another anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country, left-wing lunacy is at an all-time high. Thousands of innocent Americans lost their lives on 9/11, but, as a country, did we learn anything? Migrants are walking across the border by the thousands on a daily basis. Why aren’t they being stopped? Why aren’t they being vetted? When will Americans learn their lesson? Is it going to take another terrorist attack before we secure our border and enforce the laws of the land? The policies of liberal politicians will cost more American lives.

Almost 22 years ago, all of us witnessed the worst attack on America in its history. Instead of trying to ensure that such a horrific event would not happen again, the Dems, in defiance of the American people (but mostly former President Donald Trump and his supporters) opened our borders to anyone and everyone. As a result, we are more at risk of another 9/11-style attack. Maybe a worse attack. The tragedy will be that it didn’t have to happen in the first place — and that the Dems will be wholly responsible for it. I’m wondering what it will take for the media and those still supporting this administration and the Dems to realize just how bad their policies are and have been for America. Hoping that more innocent people don’t have to die before they finally wake up.

It’s not only illegal immigrants who are entering the country. It’s illegal drugs, like fentanyl, and possibly foreign terrorists who could be planning a massive terrorist attack. As the perfect metaphor to describe this goes: “When the bathtub is overflowing, the first thing you do is turn off the water.” What Biden is doing is turning on the water from all faucets and leaving the house locked, so no one can rescue it from becoming totally trashed and uninhabitable.

The Issue: A column on why both Donald Trump and President Biden should drop out of the 2020 race. I respect and considered the reasons that Douglas Schoen & Andrew Stein said we need to scrap President Biden and former President Donald Trump (“To Save America, Scrap Joe and Don,” PostOpinion, Aug. 31). But I worry: If another Republican candidate becomes president, will they allow him to be in office in peace and do his job? They went after Trump from the first day he was in office because he wasn’t on their page. Is America more divided and weaker because of Trump, or because of the present administration and its refusal to address major issues our country is facing?

Schoen and Stein are certainly on message, but their fix is not at all realistic: “We are calling on both parties to chart a path forward together.” Let us look to presidential leadership from a “new center” via a third party or Independent choice. The time is ripe.
