The Issue: Gov. Hochul convincing the Legislature to agree to ban gas hookups in all new construction.

Can a scientist tell me how many degrees the planet has cooled off since banning 100W light bulbs (“She’s de-ranged,” April 29)? Immeasurable, I’m sure.

This tyrannical legislation pushed by Hochul to ban new (and, in due time, I am sure it will be all gas stoves already in use) is just one more swing at controlling free individuals in this state and country.

Susan Kerr

Stony Brook

Gov. Hochul said: “Everyone knows we’ve seen the effects of climate change, the storms, the hurricanes coming to New York, record snow amounts.”

I live in New York City, and I didn’t see two inches of snow all winter.

Does she think electric stoves will change the weather? The weather is controlled by nature, not some political agenda.

Michael Englert

Queens

What is going on in this once-wonderful country and state? It’s bad enough we have Sleepy Joe down south, but we now have Deranged Hochul up north.

Who voted for these people? Our taxes are out of control, our schools are the worst in the country and crime is rampant in New York City and state. Also, don’t forget we’re footing the bill for illegal migrants to stay at $500-a-night hotels. But, we are now told: “You can’t have a gas stove.” Really!

P. Fletcher

Massappequa Park

Is anyone upset by Hochul’s decision to ban gas stoves? You have only yourselves to blame.

You had the opportunity to dump her and her liberal Democratic policies in the last election — and instead chose to vote her in. Now wait and see what other “goodies” will be coming your way.

David Shapiro

Manhattan

This is insane. No government should have the right to implement a gas-stove ban. We clearly have been giving government officials far too much power.

This is not an existential threat. If anything, gas is way more efficient and affordable. The existential threat here is stupidity, and we already have enough of that in Washington, DC.

This ban will not lower New Yorks carbon footprint, except that the population will go down, thanks to tyrannical politicians.

Steve Preziosa, Sr.

Deptford Township, NJ

Have the Democrats in Albany gone insane? What are they doing to the state of my birth?

With all the insanity of the Democrats, it is a wonder that anyone with any brains would vote for those nincompoops.

Meanwhile, the people of New York will be forced to use electric, whether they like it or not.

For the record, my wife and I and our then-young family moved to New Jersey 46 years ago. The house had an electric oven. We have had several in the intervening years, and they work quite well, but I don’t believe that people should be forced to use an electric oven if they don’t want to.

Hochul and the deep-left Legislature will now ban gas stoves and heating units in “new” buildings.

I can’t wait for when temps hit 15 degrees in the winter and people can’t get their residence to 50 degrees. Not to mention the grid not being able to support all these appliances.

Maybe, just maybe, the next time an election comes around, if New Yorkers want real change, they should vote for those who will actually put the ideals they believe in into action.

I’m not in great shape here either in New Jersey, but I’m not staying! Good riddance. Enjoy, and good luck.

James Schwartz

Summit, NJ

Public education is a disaster, and except for the cops making collars, the criminal-justice system is a joke. The city is filthy, there are some 1,500 illegal weed stores, the subways aren’t safe, public drug use is rampant and there is barely a hotel room left for the tourists because the city is inundated with illegal immigrants, but Hochul and the rest of the zeros in government are worried about our gas stoves.
