Like every other president, Trump’s appointments are ‘loyal’
The portrayal of the anti-Trump progressive left in the legacy media is quite predictable.
Some weeks ago, they were labeling Donald Trump as a fascist Nazi sympathizer. In a few weeks from now, they might push for his removal through the 25th Amendment.
Meanwhile, media outlets like CNN, Politico, and NPR have all jumped in to analyze the team Trump is assembling.
They seem particularly interested in whether Trump will hire “adults” or “loyalists” to carry out his plans.
The term “loyalist” has different connotations depending on one’s perspective.
If you support the president, it signifies a dedicated public servant working towards fulfilling the elected leader’s agenda. If you oppose the president, it represents a toady fascist undermining democracy.
The media outcry over Trump hiring loyalists is rooted in this interpretation.
It’s important to note that every president, without exception, looks to hire loyalists to be part of their administration.
While some may yearn for a team of rivals like Lincoln’s, it’s a fact that every president, be it Bill Clinton, George Bush, or Barack Obama, appointed loyalists.
Expecting Trump’s Cabinet to serve as a check against his presidency is fundamentally undemocratic.
The progressives’ push for “guardrails” on Trump is part of a trend of undermining the constitutional system of government.
Officials are supposed to carry out the president’s agenda, not act as gatekeepers.
The executive branch cannot be a check against itself; that responsibility lies with the legislative and judicial branches.
Those concerned with Trump’s actions should trust the existing checks and balances to uphold democracy.
Loosen the grip on your concerns, as the same checks and balances that were in place for past presidents will apply to Trump as well.
The name on the ballot was “Donald J. Trump,” not “Donald J. Trump, as long as he pleases MSNBC.”
