May Darth Cheney and Kamala wield the Force of hypocrisy!

In 2016, former Vice President Dick Cheney endorsed Donald Trump for president of the United States.

But he had one concern: that Trump “sounds like a liberal Democrat to me.”

This assertion would make actual liberal Democrats snort with derision given that they think Trump makes Genghis Khan look like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Yet the mocking sneer was illustrative of Cheney’s own hard-right neocon political DNA.

So, imagine my surprise when the same Dick Cheney announced over the weekend that he is endorsing Kamala Harris — the most left-wing liberal Democrat progressive nominee ever.

And that surprise turned to jaw-dropped, eye-popping, incredulity when Harris promptly issued a statement saying she was “proud” to have his support.

Sorry, WHAT?

I know we live in strange and unpredictable times, but has the world gone completely barking, howling wolf mad?

“You might think Hell has frozen over,” exclaimed MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace when Cheney’s endorsement was announced.

If anything, this was an understatement.

Because, for this entire century, Dick Cheney has represented to Democrats the purest embodiment of what they perceive to be conservative evil – someone they lambasted as a nasty bullying genocidal war criminal who dragged America into the ruinous Iraq war via a propaganda pack of WMD lies.

Such was their hatred for him that they even branded him Darth Vader after one of the most iconic and reviled villains in popular culture, the merciless Star Wars character who exuded rage and darkness as he killed everyone and everything he hated.

Indeed, current President Joe Biden said during the 2008 presidential race: “Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we’ve had probably in American history.”

Yet now, Biden’s own vice president says she’s “proud” to have his endorsement?

Forgive me if I don’t laugh so hard at the staggering hypocrisy that my spleen self-immolates.

Cheney’s statement read: “In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again. As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice-President Kamala Harris.”

And he was promptly lauded in shamelessly repellent fashion by nose-pinching liberals for his “courage” in supposedly putting his country before his party.

The irony of Cheney now being lauded as a shining white knight galloping in to defend democracy is beyond parody.

For a summary of what liberals really think of Cheney, civil liberties journalist and campaigner Chip Gibbons wrote a piece for the socialist magazine Jacobin in 2022 headlined, “Dick Cheney Should Be in Jail, Not Praised as a Hero by Democrats.”

Gibbons wrote: “Dick Cheney is an enemy of democracy in America and a war criminal. Compared to Dick Cheney’s crimes against democracy, Trump is an amateur. Cheney reduced nations to rubble, shredded the Bill of Rights, and enacted programs of surveillance, abduction, detention, and torture more in line with the state terrorism of military dictatorships than the norms of liberal democracy.”

That, you can be certain, is what Kamala Harris really thinks, too.

But in the interests of brazen two-faced political expediency, and a desperation to win the White House in November, she wants us all to believe she’s genuinely proud that Cheney has endorsed her.

What a joke.

The Cheney hypocrisy gene runs deep.

Dick’s daughter Liz, who made her name as an outspoken Republican hawk but morphed into such a demented Trump-hater that it cost her the deeply conservative Wyoming seat in Congress when she lost to a Trump-backed rival, has now also endorsed the Democrat nominee for president, despite tweeting about her in 2020: “Kamala Harris is a radical liberal who would raise taxes, take away guns & health insurance, and explode the size and power of the federal gov’t. She wants to recreate America in the image of what’s happening on the streets of Portland & Seattle. We won’t give her the chance.”

Yet here’s the same Liz Cheney, giving that radical liberal a chance.

Again, what a joke.

All this comes as latest polls show the Harris honeymoon has already burst since she replaced Biden on the Democrat ticket.

A New York Times/Siena College national survey of likely voters shows Trump leading her by 48% to 47%, and his approval ratings (46%) are way higher than in either 2016 or 2020.

One of the reasons for this, according to the new poll, is that a near-majority of voters think Trump occupies the center ground and is “not too far” to the left or right on the issues, while nearly half of voters think Harris is too far to the left.

How incredible — and frankly, how pathetically disingenuous — that Dick Cheney, once the flag-bearer for the conservative right movement in America, and scathing enemy of liberal Democrats, has chosen this moment to pin his colors to the dark side of the progressive left.

May the Force of Hypocrisy be with him and both of Kamala Harris’ “proud” two faces!
