Mayor Adams wears Biden-Harris ‘revenge’ as a badge of honor

Mayor Eric Adams was overlooked for a speaking role at the Democratic National Convention due to his outspoken stance on the migrant crisis. He criticized the administration for neglecting New York during a record influx of asylum seekers, leading to high costs and urged for a strategy to slow down the surge.

As a result of his actions, he was removed from Biden’s campaign leadership team and was not given a speaking slot at the convention. This was seen as a snub, especially when compared to other speakers like Karen Bass and Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Despite this, Adams remained composed and skipped the initial days of the convention in Chicago. The incident raises questions about the party’s claim to be inclusive and open to debate.

The situation is reminiscent of advice given by a former Biden adviser, likening power dynamics in Washington to “The Godfather” where revenge takes time. This may explain the ongoing federal probe of Adams’ 2021 campaign finances.

Despite facing challenges, Adams continues to prioritize his responsibilities to New Yorkers over political loyalty. The DNC snub and ongoing investigations may impact his re-election efforts.

In light of the upcoming election, extending an olive branch to Adams could promote party unity, a valuable consideration in politics where actions have consequences.
