Mike Johnson Resolves Debate Over House Transgender Bathroom Issue with a Clear Truth
Kudos to House Speaker Mike Johnson for avoiding a floor fight over bathrooms by stating that “All single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex.”
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) proposed a resolution to implement this policy in response to the election of Congress’ first transgender member, Sarah McBride of Delaware.
This move sparked outrage from McBride and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who accused Mace of trying to “bully a member of Congress.”
However, Mace, despite being a publicity seeker, is also a rape survivor since the age of 16 and a strong advocate for women’s rights. As a state legislator, she championed a ban on shackling pregnant women in prison and helped include a rape exception in an abortion-limits law.
As the speaker correctly stated in addressing the issue, “Women deserve women’s only spaces.”
Hopefully, individuals from both political parties can agree on this simple truth.
