Nelson DeMille bids farewell while he promises to ‘forever honor patriots’
Saying Goodbye to New York’s Beloved Thriller Author
We recently lost Nelson DeMille, a cherished author whose works were loved worldwide. I had the privilege of speaking with him often, and we even shared a radio appearance not long ago.
Known for his thrilling mysteries and tales of danger, DeMille always celebrated patriots in his stories. In his 2017 thriller “The Cuban Affair,” the lead character was a US army veteran, emphasizing his commitment to highlighting patriotism in his writing.
In his best-selling novel “The Gold Coast” from 1990, DeMille envisioned a character that was perfect for someone like Al Pacino. Despite the shelving of the movie adaptation, “The General’s Daughter,” featuring a high-stakes military investigator, was brought to life on screen with John Travolta in the lead role.
During the pandemic, he advised against authors tackling the subject of coronavirus in their novels, urging them to reconsider.
As the years went by, DeMille’s body of work continued to grow. His final book, “Blood Lines,” focused on Islamic terrorism and remained a best-seller, showcasing his enduring talent.
Having spent time in an Arab community, DeMille relied on an ordinary blackboard to keep his characters, plot lines, and sanity in order.
Described by a mutual friend as “a mensch” with a great sense of humor, Nelson DeMille will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A Unique Perspective
Interesting anecdotes abound, like a documentary featuring naked women. “Body Parts,” a film from years past, now streaming on Starz, includes nude scenes with Rose McGowan, Rosanna Arquette, and Jane Fonda.
Fonda reflects on filming “Barbarella” while drunk and how her husband’s promise of protecting her nudity didn’t materialize, leaving her vulnerable and exposed on screen.
Additionally, Farrell’s portrayal of “The Penguin” in Gotham City garnered praise, with references to other iconic performances adding to his impressive acting credits.
Farrell’s involvement in producing a series now available for streaming further highlights his versatility as an actor.
‘Real’ Real Estate Success
The “Real Housewives” are raking in real money in real estate deals. Bethenny Frankel is selling her Bridgehampton property for over twice what she paid in 2013, showcasing her lucrative real estate investments.
Each person she’s thrown a drink at could essentially cover the cost of her luxurious property, filled with amenities like four bedrooms, three baths, and a pool house.

Lastly, in the spirit of education, let’s share a historical tidbit: George Washington stood up in the boat while crossing the Delaware because every time he sat down, someone handed him an oar.
